  • Boy, is that salesman clueless. She specifically said furry AND blue!

I need to think of a name for the Pumpkin lady here. I like her a lot. Her eyes were a little off-center, though.

  • OMG, I did this sketch for some friends in college and they about fell over laughing. I'll have to send this clip to them to prove it really does exist.

  • "I must tell Myrtle!" "Madame has very particular tastes!" ROTFLMAO

  • My sisters and I quote this all the time!!! "I'll CHARGE IT, AND WEAR IT HOME!" "Uhhh, lady...uh, lady lady..." of course, Cookie's trademark "Dum dee dum dum dum, Dum dee dum dum"...and 1:35 to the end, the music and classic slow burn with the tight, angry muppet mouth... LMAO! Thanks for posting...xo

  • Yes, that line - 'I'll charge it and wear it home' - is the one that stands out in my mind the most as well! When I started watching this clip just now, I thought 'Wait, is this the clip that contains that line?' Sure enough, it is!

  • I agree with you on all of those!

That Pumpkin lady is my fave. She needs a name! Her eyes are a little off-center, though. And that green salesman was just plain snooty. He sure got his due in the end (that face kills me!)!

  • wow i sooo remember this.

  • I have to wonder what Cookie Monster was doing in that store to begin with. It's not like he needs a coat. Oh well, he definitely won't be coming back after this!

  • LOL at 0:38 and 1:33! XD Cookie rocks!

  • Cookie Monster's coat is certainly "Thicker & Thicker" from Beverly Hills!

  • Cookie Monster's fur is provided by Dicker & Dicker of Beverly Hills (LOL)!

  • I had an unfortunate circumstance in a department store too...I was looking for a new sweater. The salesman was Harvey Kneeslapper, and he asked "Would you like a V-neck?" I said sure, and then...

  • ROFL!

  • Hey, that would have made a good sketch.

  • This is my favorite! :-)

  • Loved it how Cookie "hugs" her. "Uh, lady. Uh, lady, lady."

  • That's interesting, Cookie is already the regular CM we know, but you can still notice something from his early appearences in him.

  • Yes, kind of political statement about fur almost. Remember the Muppets Christmas movie where Miss Piggy gets a live mink coat? That stuck with me forever. I have a feeling Jim was as kind as everyone says he was. Who else would come up with a creative solution to killing something to get the fur!

  • Actually, it wasn't a live mink coat. IT was just a mink, as in the animal.

  • LOL Yes, I see your point. Still, there seemed to be some kind of message there, and I appreciated it.

  • I love how they always managed to put ethical issues into Sesame St and the Muppets in really subtle ways.

  • thank you for this video!!

  • old sesame street is FAR better than the new shit

  • PLEASE post the segment that ends right at the beginning of this youtube video. The city shapes one. I've been looking for it forever

  • this is a GREAT video, I must also tell Myrtle !!!

  • One of few videos Cookie Monster wasn't trying to eat something. Great humor in this clip. Like it.

  • Loved how she tries Cookie on by basically having him hug her. "Hey, lady, lady, lady."

  • Two solutions:

    1. Buy the fur coat and have it DYED!

    2. Pull out a 9mm, shoot CM in the head, then skin him and make your own coat!

The first option sounds better. BTW that blue non-fur coat was ugly.

  • aww don't shoot Cookie Monster! :(

  • lmao very gd point lol

  • :O Cookie cops a feel!

  • "Yes, Madame. May I help you?"

"Yes. I'd like to return this coat. It ate every cookie I had in the house!"

  • LOL, that cracks me up!

  • Boy, if PETA ever got a hold of this video... :-P

  • Or PETM; People for the Ethical Treatment of Monsters.

  • Poor Anything Muppet lady. Her eyes aren't quite centered around her nose. Kind of like Shannon Doherty.

  • i see the Shannon Doherty resemblance, lol!

  • Why was Cookie in a Lady's Clothing store?

  • LMAO!!!

  • is this the same muppet that was in the "Lulu is coming to town?" he sure looks like him with a snooty accent. :D

  • I haven't seen this sketch in years. Great find. By the way, my personal opinion here, but I feel Fran Brill is one of the most underappreciated Muppeteers. She's an original and a legend, right up there with Jerry Nelson, Frank Oz and Richard Hunt. I'd add Jim Henson in there too, but he's in a catergory all of his own. :)

  • It's great that somebody else appreciates Fran. I've been trying to get people to appreciate her, Dave, Steve, Kathy, Louise and Karen for far too long.

  • I entirely AGREE!!!

  • Fran rocked, and Prairie Dawn filled my young head with awesome dreams (not X-rated ones, either.)

  • Classic Cookie. I love it.

  • this time you understand why cookie monster gets confused

  • poor Cookie Monster, he's mistaken for a coat

  • I think I vaguely recall this one as well- Cookie Monster gets mistaken for a coat! :-)

  • i remember this one! :D

  • Hey, she didn't pay!

  • what did you expect fran didnt pay the brill lol

  • "i'll charge it and wear it home!"

  • Another forgotten classic. Great stuff, sawing, and if you have any first-season street scenes (original Gordon, orange Oscar, opening titles, etc.) I think we'd all love to see them as well.

  • this is the same character who sings lulu is back in town and in between

  • Yes - the same puppet type.

  • haha i was thinking the same thing! i thought it was the same muppet too. :D
