@connor5041 It depends on the bird and how well your communication is with them. I had a cockatiel who learned to fly to my hand after just three days of target training. I had no intentions of flying her outside, but this was a great way for her to exercise inside and to learn something new. If you have a rewards that the bird strongly likes, it'll react better to training. Eventually you can replace the target with a voice command (recall training).
I dunno why every time a woman appears in a video theres some lowlifes writing comments like "wow ur so hot" etc.. like that donnydonjo dunce down there.. its amazing just how low some fellas steep
@parakeettamed No, because the bird already understood what it was it was being rewarded for. She already knew the expectation of the trainer, and so it complied, understanding it would be rewarded for that behavior. The clicker is simply a bridge to let a bird know the exact moment it did something right, which is critical when first teaching a bird a trick, as it allows for clear communication, but when a bird already knows what is expected of it, it will know why it's being rewarded.
@KitaDyer The sound of the clicker doesn't matter. It's the timing of it's use. It's just a bridge to tell your bird the exact moment it did what you asked. You can use a whistle, or a simple, "Good" consistently each time the bird does what is asked of it. The reason why clickers/whistles work so well is because there's nothing in the environment to mimic that sound outside of training, so it's a separate association from just regular contact and praise.
@kotareli Set your bird up for training, then. Remove it's food dish an hour prior to training. Also, make sure you have treats that it really loves. Only use these special foods for training, don't make them a part of the staple food. This helps more picky birds enjoy their food rewards more.
@S0XF0X Thanks! but i think he is afraid of me or bored or something like that. when he is out of his cage and i get me hand with my index finger stretched close to him, he jump on but when i try to caress him or caught him with in his cage he start running away and cheeping.
So she is the dream of every straight male who loves parrots. Big fucking deal. You don't need to start using homophobic slurs because of it. I don't think that any gay men are making any of the comments.

instead of using the clicker, can you just say good boy or good girl? would that work just as good? i plan on getting an african grey
Martinguy12 1 year ago
@Martinguy12 You could click your tongue. I guess that would work 2 but you would have 2 use the same tone and make sure the bird notices it 2.

What happen if my bird doest accept my treats??
kotareli 2 years ago 4
You may be using the wrong treat. Use something that isn't in his daily diet that he only gets for doing good in training in small amounts.

@kotareli You're skipping many steps, and this is infringing on your bird's trust. I'll send you an e-mail later :)
