    hmm... no, the constant (R) is always 0.0821... or that's what i was taught if you're plugging it into PV=nRT

  • @adiavoy You use 0.0821 as the constant when your pressure is in ATM. when your pressure is in kPa, you use 8.314 ;)

    oh actually nevermind, it is 8.314 if you're using joules for the temperature, i usually use kelvin.

  • @ghidfg There are 3 different constants, though I believe the most commonly used R is 0.0821. That is if you are using atm as your unit of pressure. If is 8.314 (which is what you were assuming), it would be if the unit of pressure were in kPa. Then if the unit of pressure were in mm Hg, your constant would be 62.4. (:
