@Toddjumper Hey, at least the HUB's 'Renegades' is getting Snake Eyes and Scarlett's relationship right for once, and not pimping her out to Duke the way Sunbow and 'Resolute' did. Warren Ellis has a lot to answer for for that crap. Just because a stupid 80's cartoon did something doesn't mean you should let it influence all the animation that comes after it. Always stick to the comics; 'Resolute' would have been much better if they had.

@44excalibur I get your passion for the canon established in the Comics; however, you have to keep in mind that Ellis (aside from being a brilliant writer who doesn't have to explain himself) was trying to do something incredibly difficult, namely building a story that would pay respects to *several* years of Joe canon, not just the Sunbow series. And keep in mind, as someone who read the Comics, not *everyone* wanted Scarlett to end up with Snake-Eyes, so try not to speak for everyone, okay?

From what I've seen, Ellis was trying to combine the continuties which are not very compatible, and pay respects mostly to Sunbow, incorporating only a superficial amount of the Marvel series involving Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. As for Scarlett, she doesn't "end up" with anyone. She's only with Snake Eyes in the comics and Larry Hama made it clear that she always would be, regardless of Sunbow's corporate meddling back in the 80's.

@RogueScholarBlue I mean no disrespect to fans of 'Resolute,' but I question why Ellis would go the Duke/Scarlett route from Sunbow considering how it's made Scarlett such a notorious figure. Sunbow's reason for that was to make things more convenient for their animators who couldn't figure out how to work around Snake Eyes' muteness more than a creative decision. But the 80's are over and so is Sunbow. My comment was that 'Renegades is finally doing what animation has resisted for decades.

I'm simply saying that lambasting Ellis and Resolute simply for the fact that he chose to lean towards the more commonly known (by non-hard core Joe fans) 80s cartoon as opposed to the comics is a bit myopic.

However, now we have the Nolan Batman flms taking their cues from Miller, Loeb,and Moore. Like I said, we'll see how things play out. Many 'Resolute' fans have been attacking 'Renegades,' so I felt the need to defend it. I apologize for my earlier tone. Thanks for the discussion.

@44excalibur What Ellis achieved with Resolute was something that held truer to the G.I. Joe Universe then almost any other series. It did not make a mockery of the Canon in of itself like the Live Action G.I. Joe film did. If Scarlett not being with Snake-Eyes upset you (Clearly it did...) that's fine. I'd feel the same way if they redid Star Wars and Leia ended up with Lando. However, Resolute, on it's own, is an amazing mini-series and should not be attacked for a single lost relationship.

I'm not really upset about a "lost " relationship since Snake Eyes & Scarlett are still canon in the comics. But animation has always robbed them, and 'Resolute' and especially 'Rise Of Cobra' rubbed salt in the wound. I only gave props to 'Renegades' for finally doing what Sunbow wouldn't, which takes some of the sting off. Again, I apologize for being so rough in my comments.

@44excalibur Well, I appreciate your candor in the matter. As to Renegades, the series has taken many of it's cues, including the character design, from Resolute. Also, though the series has, thus far, established a close bond and mutual respect between Scarlett and Snake Eyes, there is no more romance there then between her and Duke. In "Arashikage" we see Jinx is jealous of Scarlett, but that is not indicative of a Romance. You may not want to see more then is there. Farewell.

Tonight on 'Renegades,' Storm Shadow told Snake Eyes that he was sending the Shadow Vipers to kill the other Joe's, and then said, "including your woman!" I assume he meant Scarlett. Tunnel Rat and the Baroness have also referred to her as his "lady" and his "girlfriend," and writer Henry Gilroy stated that the relationships between Flint & Lady Jay and Scarlett & Snake Eyes would be evolving as the series progresses. We'll see what happens.
