  • pussies with their oxygen.,...

  • @findlaymcarthur Isn't like you've got off ur ass and done it

  • Has anyone ever flown over the summit and parachuted down?

I hear of a mission being planned to bring back the bodies of dead climbers.

So why don't they parachute out of a plane, land on the summit, then use parachutes to float the bodies down to ground level?

It seems the only possible way to retrieve things from the summit, without risking the lives of more people on the descent.

  • @tjbayliss well Bear Grylls did fly over mount everest with a parachute and a motor strapped to his back, it would be very hard to parachute and land on the summit without hurting yourself, you would fall quicker than lower on earth and that would not provide a safe landing, they just got a body down from high on the mountain, they carried the body down to advanced base camp i believe and then picked it up with a chopper.

    crazy stuff.

  • @tjbayliss buddy, parachuting down on mt. everest ? c'mon.... the fall would be far too fast because of the thin air and the weight of the person + payload (oxygen, equipment). You would have to use a huuuge parachute, which cant be controlled properly. Even IF someone would land on the mountain, how would you "float the bodies down" ? You cant float anything down slopes which arent vertically without actually guiding the fall urself - which again is not possible and far too dangerous.

  • Check out that guy who jumps from plane RED BULL commercial NO PARACHUTE think he is military hell no super expert and Balls Big Ones "wow"--- check it out?

  • Military copied from Civilian for HALO not other way around those chutes were first used by Parachute enthusiasts like saying military guys could jump LIKE MX Racers "not a chance".. HALO has been done by thousands of civilians for fun and PRO's do it for Commercials. James Bond movies..

  • Just saw wind conditions and it would have to be absolutely calm just like now with this video no winds or nearly none all the way to 40K NO way to hit this summit without calm or no winds with any pro base jumper --winds have to be ZERO.

You are right and equipment would have to be there waiting...or they would freeze.

  • Well, I guess a few highly trained parachutists can make that jump, HAHO kind of jump, which is extremely difficult, risky and probably confined to the expertise of military special forces.

  • @manteaca one thing is Military is not the experts...what think Golden knights could do all the stunts and expertise like you see in commercials or Movies-" NOT"...those guys do that like nothing play with jumping..those are the guys who have done hundreds of those jumps already. Wake board jumpers.ect ect

  • @manteaca check out travis pastrana gee does he need any HALO training --NO parachute wow..now gee maybe he should join Military to learn huh --Yeah maybe I should to to do freestyle on my CR-125 ....Sorry HALO would not even be a HALO just high altitide jump and poof Base landing not low opening. Takes experts though definitely!

  • But I´m talking about HAHO where you could spend an hour going down and navigating your way to the LZ. Not HALO, mate.

  • I believe you are a pilot but plenty of Jumpers jump from even 35K for special military jumps.

If this was pre-set by professional stunt people and the best Base Jumpers I am sure it would not be impossible. Again an Organized stunt "not" bunch of weekend warriors but top pros who could be assisted throughout jump. At peak as well. 2 Chutes slow down thin air...ect.

  • Planes fly there every second c'mon Jesus go to your airport even the turbo props fly there 29k 35k Delta, Northwest ect ect no big deal on that but yes it would require double the chutes meaning two chutes as Air is so oooo thin there so it could be done but again one would have to be damn good and 2 parachutes.

  • Exactly my point, only jet engines and some turboprop, not all, can fly at that altitude (and one helicopter only once). You are talking about parachutes and hang gliders. I´m a pilot by the way and as I stated earlier in the debate the only way I´m reaching Everest is either flying over it or inside an astronaut suit. Conditions there are fit only for martians...

  • Ok what just about a HALO jump with U2 pressure suit? Now that can be done...Just want to see if those who are darn good could really jump from 40K hit the summit and then jump down to Base 4? Never been done; Never!

    Set world record.

  • No can do. This is why. HALO: high altitude, low opening. You jump from 40,000 ft but open very close to terrain. If you open a parachute at 29,000 ft (Everest) it won´t work very well at all. Pressure suit or not. There is not enough air pressure for that. To fly in any given way at that altitude you need a lot of power. At high altitudes stall speeds are very high also. You need big wings or big engines, otherwise you are going down down down.

Lift= 1/2 rho V2 Lift coeficient wing area

  • All I am saying and I don't even jump- this is for the Super Experts --best of Base Jumpers who have HALO experience and may want to try the almost impossible! They can suit up once hitting Base 4 to don the cold weather gear!

  • air currents would make this a zero jump flight

  • Has anybody ever thought of jumping to the Summitt ? Instead of climbing it hit it from a HALO then one more step ---Hanglide all the way down?

  • Air is too thin! And even if you could who would haul a hanglider all the way to the top when people can barley carry themselves.

  • "NO" not haul it up two men fly it down and not Golden knights ---""Base Jumpers live for this"!....One big bottle O2 drop from 40,000 feet to the summit HALO type jump-Gotta hit it perfect 1hr to build glider and sail down!

  • the air is really thin, so you'd need a large parachute/ hanglider. i say you fly in a helicopter to the summit (one's landed there) and get out with your hanglider. that'd be fun

  • Good God you are so right forgot about that...USAF Test pilot jumped from almost Space or edge and hit speeds of 800MPH until slowed down by drag of thick air yeah air is too thin hit speeds of 250mph need two chutes it would work use main and back up...

  • No fun is to see Best of Base jumpers hit this summit with chutes never ever done before and probably most dangerous stunt on Earth! I challenge those who could do this It's the ultimate Jump World Record Jump ----World Record!!!!Guiness Book!!!!

  • considering how long it takes to adjust to the oxygen levels even at the altitude of the lower base camps it would not fun trip down.

  • You can accualy die of suffocation. The throat inflates and makes breathing impossible. Its one of the effects of altitude sickness.

  • No, its not.

  • Ummmm

Hard to breath, yes, and if you don't acclimate you get altitude sickness, but I don' think you could get to a spot where you couldn't breath, besides, they (they meaning not necessarliy those in the video or anyone specific)have compressed oxygen to breathe towards the summit ( some use it others don't

  • ya u can get altitude sickness as low as 7000 ft, it just all depends on how quick you accend and deccend the mountain.

  • i heard that tere is a point on everest where you can't breath

  • it's spelled "tHere" and you're sadly misinformed.

  • It's called the "death zone" and it exists on any mountain that extends beyond 7600 meters (about 25k feet).

The air pressure is so low that one cannot intake enough oxygen. Even with supplemental oxygen you are literally wasting away until you recover to a lower altitude. Entering the 'death zone' is a calculated risk, and it affects everyone differently, but no matter who you are you will die, and quickly, if you do not descend.

  • "Quickly" can mean hours or a couple days to clarify.

  • What about if you are constantly breathing O2 or even mixture of O2 and nitrogen something to constantly breath and wear special suit to keep the body from exhausting O2 off the skin???

  • @deltaalpha21074 That's a good question. But I think weight would be more of a detriment than the added oxygen. As of now the systems they use still only theoretically lower the altitude by a few thousand feet.

  • It can be done --those who have the right stuff should try it...!

  • How about placing you on top by helicopter in an astronaut suit? I would go for that.

  • @manteaca Sure I'll do it --Don't need Space suit just big O2 tank on my back and hang-glider..I already have suit good to -80 degrees so staying warm is done!

  • You want be able to hang glide at that altitude, 1/3 of air concentration, you´ll need a hang glider the size of a 737.

You also need an O2 tank and mask that doesn´t mix outside air with your pressured O2.

Your eardrums will be exposed to low barometric pressures in little time, no medicine for that.

If you are all cozy in a sealed environment, read astronaut suit, you avoid all problems.

Then you need the helicopter to pick you back or you plan to trek to Katmandu?

  • @manteaca makes sense but 28K is not that high? really plenty of skydivers actually jump from that I am damn sure SEALS do Halos from 40K.

Pressure suit is too easy since alot of U2 pilots wore them and Russians still do for the MIG jets...Yes hanglider would soar too fast at that height--Air too thin..O2 bottles connected to a pressure suit. that would work for sure.

  • a land slide on a snowy mountain good observation there shurlock

  • first off a tsunami is a giant wave (water) not rocks. and 2nd there already at the sumit.

  • i think they should take the ladders and ropes down and make it just as it should be... just as god made it...impossible

  • Well said my friend!

  • On May 14th, 2005 at 7h08 (local time), a serial Ecureuil/AStar AS 350 B3 piloted by the EUROCOPTER X-test pilot Didier Delsalle, landed at 8,850 meters (29,035ft) on the top of the Mount Everest.

  • omg, his voice is so fcking annoying

u just wanna see the view and he is ruining it :<

  • Turn the sound off, Einstein.

  • lmao

  • i'm from nepal but i've only been to the base camp, and i've never heard any helicoper landed or get near to the summit, i watched in National geographic tht heli cant go near the summit but i dont know the reason why.

  • it's cuz the air on the summit is too thin

  • thanks

  • ya, you wouldnt be able to get enough lift

  • No....even if there wasnt any wind the air at the summit which is actually 29,028 ft and not 29035ft is too thin to provide enough lift for the rotors on any helicopter.

  • Type Everest Helicopter into google and go to the first link. It's all there...and it happened four years ago.

    Duh.

  • daviethedrummer i have just watched that video

    its fake

i cant explain but it is i know..

It is impossible the air is way too thin

  • No man, is really possible! Have you ever heard Reynold Messner? He was the first who climbed all the mountains over 8000 metres without oxigen...he wasn't superman...

  • Comment removed

  • @wallygillis On 14 May 2005, a Ecureuil AS350B3 piloted by Didier Delsalle landed at 8,848 meters on the top of the Mount Everest. As required by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, the aircraft remained on the summit for 2 minutes before returning to Lukla. This is the highest altitude landing and take off ever.

  • @wallygillis a heli has now been landed on the summit as a world record. it was a pretty normal bell helicopter too.

  • @dpounder101 shit no it was a eurocopter

  • It is possible for a helicopter to get to the summit, it has happened before, but it is very rare to happen and would reqire amazing helicoper driving skills and quite a well equipped helicopter.

  • 29,029ft

  • Its impossible to take a helicopter to the summit. The air particles are too thin for the helicopter to have a "grip" on. Helicopters cant fly anything close to that.

  • Hey Xtromist, a Frenchman named Didier Delsalle would like a word with you, look him up. But yes in general helicopters do not go that high, Impossible is not the right word though.

  • That video was amazing. Congrats on reaching the summit. Keep climbing!

ok so say they did land the helicopter on the summit, wouldent the piolet pass out. He'd be going to high to fast.

  • My last comment was for

    sportmanfan3, for climbing Everest

  • the air is too thin at the top so the helicopter cant fly properly

  • I climbed mount everest before. hardest thing i have ever done in my life. i would never do it again

  • how much did you pay in total?

  • You my friend, is very lucky

  • how high did u go?

  • helicopters can only go to Camp # 4 I belive, right?

  • Camp 2

  • A helicopter actually landed someone on the summit. But it was a specially prepped chopper for doing that. Look it up, the videos on youtube somewhere.

  • My understanding of helicopters is that there is a max ceiling, but that dosen't mean it can land at that height, it needs forward speed. A high altitude landing often requires forward speed, so it needs more space, and lands a little like very slow plane. Hovering in still conditions is hazardous, if you are out of ground effect, a vortex quickly builds up-the air circulates, and takes you by surprise. Ground effect begins at about 1 wings length, but that is density dependent, 1/3 down 3km.

  • I think that helicopter landing was more of a hover landing rather than an actual, turning off the blades landing as they weren't sure whether the snow would support the weight of the helicopter, and whether the helicopter would be able to take off again. Anyway! Nice vid, awesome views!

  • Great Job Guys!

  • Yep

there was a helicopter landing on the summit of MT. Everest. May 14 2005 by Didier Delsalle.

There is an article on the National Geographic web site.

  • XBoSnIaNxX your so dumb they dont make helicopters to go that high rtard

  • thats why your not into climbing and mounting hiking!!

  • helicopters cannot go that high. the air is too thin

  • "helicopters cannot go that high. the air is too thin"

"youre stupid. the summit is too high for helicopters to get up..idiot."

Don't be a douché if you don't know what you're talking about.

The current helicopter record is well over 12 000 metres.

  • that makes no sense

  • youre stupid. the summit is too high for helicopters to get up..idiot.

  • helocopers can....dumbass!!!! ... helocoper hights have been well above the clouds!!!

  • A helicopter can't just "keep going up". Eventually the air gets too thin to support its weight and then it physically cannot climb any higher. The maximum altitude achievable by any particular helicopter depends on its weight, the surface area of its blades, and the power of its engine. The record currently stands at 41,000 feet--set in 1972...smart one.

  • XBOSnlaNxX,

Dumbass, do you have any idea how high the summit is? Go educate yourself and find out.

Heres a hint: It's slightly lower than the cruising altitude of jets; but you probably don't know that either.

  • Actually, not only is it possible to land on mount everest with a helicopter, but it's been done before. By Didier Delsalle in 2005 who landed at 8 850 metres.

  • Wow ok helicopters cant get up there the air is to thin. "wow, people these days" back at ya

  • people these days are just too stupid... it is not impossible to land on the summit, just really hard... lol

    so shut up...

  • High price to pay for a few minutes of bliss...personally, I'd still be scared to 'death' of the climb down!!

  • have you read the book peak? its exactly like this go and read it.

  • I HAVE READ THE BOOK PEAK AND TURNS OUT THAT THERE IS A VIDIO THAT YOGI ( or yash i cant remember)

  • nice! Wish I could stand in that same spot .

  • my science teacher is friends with conrad anker

  • actually you don't have to spend 42k. if you arrange your own camp and supplies, you can do it for as low as 5k. but, the 42k is worth every penny, since you get cooked meals, guides, sherpas, weatherman, equip like tents, food hauled for you, hot showers, communications, etc.

  • sorry but you're wrong, just the permit that you have to pay the nepal government to climb is $10,000 alone

  • maybe. but i saw on a everest website where it was possible for 5k. i'll post the link if i find it. I dont doubt prices have gone up, or maybe it was the Tibet side permit. But it was most definately 5k. Not worth arguing about. If it was me, I would go with the guides and sherpas anyway. Just saying, it can be done for alot cheaper.

  • Well not everyone climbs up the Nepal side

  • at night we had to pee in bottles cause it was to cold

  • you sure dont get that from playing assasins creed dont u?

  • this is nepal

the best place in the world

try seeing this beautiful country somewhere

  • yeah it cost 42K to climb everest thats not including gear and shit all the gear ur looking at mabe 10 thousand! at most but yeah this is on the north face of everest soo shit u guys are retarded dont cot no million bucks to climb it! shit!

  • You're forgetting, we're not a broke and total loser like you are. Some people can afford it. Let me let you in on a little secret while you're so quick to jump to conclusions; some climber are "sponsored". Thus meaning some companies such as pharmaceuticals as well as independent companies give you the money to go as long as you wear their name.

  • Why would a medicine company pay people to climb Everest? That would break the Hypocritic oath.

  • on hte discovery channel they said it cost 42,000 but if the guide doesnt think your strong enough yo make it they can send you back

  • I don't, but your shit certainly will

  • yet a nother good comment wow u spam on all everest videos get a life dude

  • Dude to clomb everest it cost like over a million bucks for equipment a guide traing and staying at base camp for two weeks.

  • 60K wont cover 1/5th of the trip. After your try at it win or lose you still have to repair your body. Everest is a killer and will haunt you.

  • Rubbish. There are package deals from renowned companies for $40k, including flight, permit, food, Sherpas, everything. Equipment maybe another 5k. And most people who climbed Everest went back to their normal jobs after a month.

  • hey, if u got $60,000 laying around and have some killer skills, go for it.

  • God i want to climb everest when im older it would be amazing!

  • That's awesome! I hope I get to do that sometime during my life.

  • if i could get to the top of everest . . .i love the chance to at least take a shit op top of the world!!!

  • hahahaha same here, I would do exactly the same, and write my name in my yellow stream!

  • "I'm on the top of the world, lookin'..down on creation and the only explaination I can find......"

  • LOL you did not make it, the guys in the video are higher than you.

  • ha ha :o)

  • I would be REALLY tempted to heap the snow up a bit on the summit. You know - just make it that little bit taller for a bit. Seriously, though, it must be the most incredible feeling to be there.

  • it would be scary as fuck climbing down cause ur basically always lookin down. damn

  • Just imagine being in that one, magic place where there was no more 'up'... Amazing.

  • Im watching you, you've left too much info on the net to be pissing everyone off. Are you some kind of idiot.

  • You have to be the sadest wanker on the internet! Ive googled you and boy have you been busy. Obviously theres a lot of anger in you with bein wheelchair bound and thats sad, but why do you have to continually piss up peoples backs on this site. Get a life Sad Cunt!

  • yah, you should read the book "into thin air" by jon krakauer. by the time these guys get up to the summit, they are so tired that they can barley think. their blood oxygen level is so low that they can only afford to spend no more than a few hours above the "death zone" (i think its 28,500 ft above?) anyways, the author jon krakauer reached the summit and he says in the book that the average time each climber spends on the top is like 8 minutes.

  • Death zone is generally considered anything above 25,500 feet, 26,000 feet tops. Above that, human life detiorates rapidly without supplmental 02. Even the most fit Everest climbers without O2 won't be good in the death zone much beyond 24 hours. I've never been there, but I understand that on the summit, your brain is way too oxygen starved to care much about anything, except possibly getting down to lower altitude.

  • This video is lame! Can't really see anything since all blowout and the dude speaking is just like "yeah. ya know, its the summit" maybe he's tired but it just seemed like what the fuck...

  • Man that looks prettty cool. Hey Oppinoy, I bet that i would be so much more amazing if you were actually up there. Not that ive been but a video of someone swinging on a rope is crap but once you do it urself, its mad fun, y'know what im sayin? And You, DelusionsAndGrandeur, Were you born on the peak of everest? Ur moum would have had a had time gettin up there...

  • Was it what you expected? If I was climbing Everest, I bet I would say "This is it!?!" when I got to the summit, after all the time, work, and money that was spent to get up there. But great job, eventhough the only thing you probably got was these videos and a "I summitted Mt. Everest, and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt." t-shirt.

  • i was born there.

  • Nice. :)

  • Been there, done that lol xD

  • What a view from the top of the world, bet it takes your breath away.

  • oh oh oh

  • Was it kinda cold up there? Just kidding, cool vid i always kinda wondered what it would look like. can u see China and Tibet ?

  • nice video

  • How does it feel to be on top of the world?
