not for nothing, doctors can use poor grammar. most the MDs i know focused on microbiology not composition. some even cheated & bought english papers so they coulud concentrate on hard sciences. but mainly the doctors i know as ESL people. you cant presume much from short sentences written on youtube. remember the addage about grains of salt

How about if you regulate doctors? How about if you work for the gov't, are an attorney, etc.? You have an extremely narrow view and understanding of the world. Doctors design medical devices. Docs run businesses (i.e. medical coops). They are part of medical associations and socieites (another way to have contact with them, i.e. a meeting planner). They teach (again, more ways - as students, as staff). Docs use accountants and business consultants. (another). on and on.

No, a need in healthcare reform. We've pushed out good docs and imported (some) bad ones. Pushed out in a number of ways - high insurance costs, wild litigation, price controls, excessive regulation, etc. The medical profession has always be patient centered and still is. It's also always suffered from greed and ethical lapses, still does. When you over regulate, interfer with the practice of medicine and limit earning potential, you (gov't) makes it worse.

I don't think I'm a big shot, but I definitely would be a big shot if I compare myself to u. I think u should stick with the imaginary things you long for if they make you happy. not for nothing, doctors can use poor grammar. most the MDs i know focused on microbiology not composition. some even cheated & bought english papers so they coulud concentrate on hard sciences. but mainly the doctors i know as ESL people. you cant presume much from short sentences written on youtube. remember the addage about grains of salt

no, i mean that most of them are from other countries therefore English is their Second Language. just because your english aint great dont mean you cant perform clinical diagnoses. also, the truth is, most doctors dont have that kind of rounded liberal arts background in terms of their education. but they can handle chemistry concepts on a molecular level, they understand the biological process & they understand macro effects from micro functions

Right, and so in their case it's excusable. Thus, it might be excusable here for him, if he has the same excuse. No one questioned their diagnostic or treatment abilities. Any doctor had to do well in English. You need a high GPA. As a science major in college, as I was, you still take basic English. In high school you need to do well in English to have a good GPA to get into a good college, to get into a good med school. Stop the nonsense. Doctors r not generally devoid of good writing skills.

if you thihnk that doctors are devoid of corruption or untruth, youre dead wrong. that's so far from nonsense. in fact, all id need do is point you to a lot of work by robin cook (an ENT Dr & author) who reflects a lot of the truth about concierge medicine. here in colorado, one of the better teaching systems has a high turnover rate for staffers. why do kings county (bklyn,ny) & cook county (chicago) need so much malpractice coverage when the goodwill act protects everything they do.

I did not say devoid. READ. I took issue with your claim of MANY. High malpractice is a direct result of tort litigation. Other factors, easier access to the courts and more educated/informed patients plays a part too, but run away juries is a large part of the issue. For example, the new torts associated with misdiagnosis (wrongful birth?) and the impact on OBGYN docs.

Moreover, doctors publish in medical journals and have to communicate via reports and other written forms of communication. Of course there are always exceptions to the norm, but doctors on the whole have always been very well written and spoken. True, today standards are slipping as we insource foreign trained doctors and true our educational standards on the whole are slipping, but doctors nor people supposedly making 350k/year in the medical field write like the idiot who posted here.

Nonetheless, it is true we are importing sub-par doctos in some instances who are willing to work on the cheap. Some, of course, are excellent. Others are not. i guess what im pointing to is the layperson's ability to evaluate a physician beyond that doc's bedside manner. for me, ive been fortunate enough that i havent really had to see a doctor but i have personally watched friends & colleagues in practice. unless youre a healthcare professional or chronic patient, it's difficult to evaluate any doc, that's what i was alluding. i agree wholeheartedly w/you about the communication though. but that's not a new thing. theyve always been deaf

How about if you regulate doctors? How about if you work for the gov't, are an attorney, etc.? You have an extremely narrow view and understanding of the world. Doctors design medical devices. Docs run businesses (i.e. medical coops). They are part of medical associations and socieites (another way to have contact with them, i.e. a meeting planner). They teach (again, more ways - as students, as staff). Docs use accountants and business consultants. (another). on and on.

No, a need in healthcare reform. We've pushed out good docs and imported (some) bad ones. Pushed out in a number of ways - high insurance costs, wild litigation, price controls, excessive regulation, etc. The medical profession has always be patient centered and still is. It's also always suffered from greed and ethical lapses, still does. When you over regulate, interfer with the practice of medicine and limit earning potential, you (gov't) makes it worse.

You're right. I meant of the medical profession; more specifically, of how one might know about docs. I apologize, I've been a bit rude & you haven't been. Formularies have 2 do 2/HMOs (unless you meant rxs). Marketing/generics has 2 do w/the drug companies(and other industries). Docs may be involved inappropriately (kickbacks, conflicts of interest in development, etc.), but, despite recent media attention, doctor misconduct in that arena is not the majority.

It's not really upsetting, perse, just... mind-boggling. We have Stewart and Colbert and Carlin, so we're used to damn good comedy. This looks rather lame in comparison. It's like being a NYC clothing designer and seeing a Muslim fashion show under sharia law. Thoroughly underwhelming.
