@TheArtifaz didn't you listen to the songs? almost all of them are in english. When eurovision started most songs were in their native language but that kind of.... changed. Don't know why, though. People just started singing english.

@seashellbeach: 3% of Turkey is in Europe. ;) Eurovision however is for members of the EBU (European Broadcasting Union). Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan all participate even though they're "borderline" European countries. Same with Russia, really. Turkey is just yet another "in-between" nation. There are participating members who definitely aren't situated in Europe though - Israel for one. Morocco also competed once. Lebanon tried to in 2005 but due to tensions with Israel that didn't happen

@MidnightFlower13: Same reason it says England under the UK. ;) Belgium is compromised of two peoples - the French-speaking Walloons and the Dutch-speaking Flemish. Their national pre-selection for this contest is often rotated between the language-sectors. In 2010 it was Flanders turn to pick a representative. This is relevant because Flemish (Dutch) is of course a Germanic language whilst French is a latin language so since I was dividing these countries into categories I had to clarify. ;)

It's the most wonderful, gay competition that we (Europeans) have gone ape-shit over since 1956. Not only for Europeans, though. Israel has been a competator for a long time.

So pretty much every country have their own national final and decide for a song that they send to the Grand Final (That takes place in the previous years winners country) and then everybody screams in front of their television and be generally annoying. I, personally, love it. My English is limited, sorry
