When we sing hymns, we are supposed to be praising God as best we can. We should approach that task thoughtfully and reverently. Enthusiasm is good, but carelessness isn't. If your reaction to this is "my pastor jumps a yard in the air when we sing this," then I have to ask, how hard are you thinking about this?

There's nothing wrong with thinking a hymn is "cool;" but the reason why you think it's cool should be because of what it says ...

I'm probably going to get jumped on for being an elitist, but I'm not. Listening to this almost made me cry, because it's so empty compared to another hymn by the same name. That one is like a refreshing drink of water; this one feels like a desert. That one has content behind the words, and the music is much more graceful, but this is just so repetitive. It's the difference between reading a psalm and listening to cheerleaders.
