@1sowild First let me say I own and love a GSD but I am old and I have seen many dog fights in the deep south... and the pit bull defeats all comers in the pit. Giving up as much as 100 lbs. they consistently defeat the shepherd dogs from around the world... In Japan after the war they stopped the Tosa from fighting pits because they were killing the tosas at an alarming rate. They wanted a dog that bites hard and has a high tolerance to pain, so they got a bull dog. Then they wanted a dog with a lot of game, so they bred the bulldog with an old english terrier, which are not around anymore. The bull terrier actually has a stronger bite than the pit, but didn't have the mentality to fight. I'm against dog fighting and I know the pit is a good dog.

This is bullshit. You cant test one example of each breed and then draw a conclusion for the entire breed. What if that Rottweiler was a strong example of the breed and that Pit was a weak example, or any combination for that matter. One thing I learned at school was to make reliable results you have to test many times to get a reliable result, therefore they should of tested thousands of Pits, Rottweilers and GSDs.
Pits aren't unbeatable and there has been instances that they were beaten, but 7 out ten the pits win. your arguement is also baseless because, I,ve seen a rott with my own eyes get killed by a pit and a cop's german shepherd that was getting his kicked by a pit before the cop shot it. I don't condone dog figting and it really doesn't matter who wins, I just like the pits and I also like germ sh. and rots but I like pits better. pits were bred to fight, accept that.

Pay attention to their body weight and you will see the same order as the bite force. the weight of the dog has alot to do with it, cause he is useing their momentum. he is not measuring jaw power alone. and another thing pits comes in different sizes because they are not as pure as other breeds. The one he is useing isn't that big. This test is inconclusive to me.

After all...the weight of the animal would be traveling forward, while the bite gage only measures up and down forces. Likewise, the animals maintained their bites after landing and biting the meter, and the meter would have kept giving a bite reading. Not to mention, i have other records where the bites of stationary dogs were measured as well, for comparison.

let say the rott does have a greater bite force, it still can't beat the pits fighting spirit and toughness, this is why they are the #1 fighting dogs, but better to know it than to do itm cause I'm still against dog fighting. The one i have now is a female, first female i ever had, got her from a shelter back in Feb after the sad loss of my male Tank who past last Nov.. ripped me up, loved him. The dog i have now is great too, she was shy and timid at first; her prev owner abused her, now she has come along; she is friendly, but barks and growls when strangers approach.

well the bigger the head is stronger the bite force. if the dog is obese then he might not hav a ghud bite force as much as the same breed but muscular. most deffinently the american bully will have a stronger bite force than the apbt nd the pit was a little small but doesnt mean it aint strong
@thereaping10x , On the animal conflicts sight the scientist says that there is no way to measure the bite force of a dog because you have no way of knowing if it is their best effort. The dogs with longer canines will naturally measure more because of the pressure exerted on a very small area ( the two long canine teeth ) .... The pit bull on the other hand has shorter canines and the pressure is spread over more teeth thru out the mouth. I have seen a pit chew up a golf ball like candy...
The same can be said for the german shepherd and rottweiler, except they grabbed those 3 dogs because they were of average size to the allocated dog breed.

@1sowild u are just incorrect....did you see the dogs papers who came into your yard to insure it wasn't a mutt or mix......was it game bred, conditioned properly..not all pitbulls are good fighting dogs like all german shepherds are not good police dogs or drug dogs....I will promise you that no other breed lb for lb will drop a proven gamebred apbt. In grandchampion matches people have fought 65lb apbts vs 160lb rotts and lost whrn both dogs were proven.

@1sowild First let me say I own and love a GSD but I am old and I have seen many dog fights in the deep south... and the pit bull defeats all comers in the pit. Giving up as much as 100 lbs. they consistently defeat the shepherd dogs from around the world... In Japan after the war they stopped the Tosa from fighting pits because they were killing the tosas at an alarming rate. Things I have seen and not just read about .... most of this bs is just folks repeating what they have heard..

@raiderncpit Keep your Pit with it's claim to fame of taking on other 40lb dogs, i will keep my German shepherd wich was developed to defend sheep from predators and take on whatever tries to harm there herd, and also is a succesful police dog! Any Livestock guardian dog; Great pyrenees, German shepherd, CAO, Ilyrian sheepdog, Anatolian shepherd, etc is a much more forceful dog than a Pit wich most guys in the hood get them to TRY and make themselves look all tough and bad! lol

@slize10 you must be a child or something, I learned about pitbulls for 28 years now, I read many books on them. They wanted a dog that bites hard and has a high tolerance to pain, so they got a bull dog. Then they wanted a dog with a lot of game, so they bred the bulldog with an old english terrier, which are not around anymore. The bull terrier actually has a stronger bite than the pit, but didn't have the mentality to fight. I'm against dog fighting and I know the pit is a good dog.

This is bullshit. You cant test one example of each breed and then draw a conclusion for the entire breed. What if that Rottweiler was a strong example of the breed and that Pit was a weak example, or any combination for that matter. One thing I learned at school was to make reliable results you have to test many times to get a reliable result, therefore they should of tested thousands of Pits, Rottweilers and GSDs.

Pits aren't unbeatable and there has been instances that they were beaten, but 7 out ten the pits win. your arguement is also baseless because, I,ve seen a rott with my own eyes get killed by a pit and a cop's german shepherd that was getting his kicked by a pit before the cop shot it. Pay attention to their body weight and you will see the same order as the bite force. the weight of the dog has alot to do with it, cause he is useing their momentum. he is not measuring jaw power alone. and another thing pits comes in different sizes because they are not as pure as other breeds. The one he is useing isn't that big. This test is inconclusive to me.

After all...the weight of the animal would be traveling forward, while the bite gage only measures up and down forces. Likewise, the animals maintained their bites after landing and biting the meter, and the meter would have kept giving a bite reading. Not to mention, i have other records where the bites of stationary dogs were measured as well, for comparison.

I have seen the shepherd dogs brought into Louisana from turkey and russia and you cant keep them in the pit, they attack and make a lot of noise and go down like the titanic once they are bitten . A 60 lb pit took down a caucasian that looked to weigh 150 lbs or so. Crushed his front leg and worked up to the shoulder and the big dog layed perfectly still and you know what that means .. the owner stopped the fight...

When a dog man pays $3500.00 for a Caucasian he should be a good one but he could not hang with the apbt that he out weighed by nearly 100 lbs... As for dog's, well, my neighbor is a typical moron who got a Pit because he's an a**hole that wants to intimidate everyone, the same reason alot of people get them. He also made his truck as loud as possible thinking it made him cool, but again, he let his Pit loose on my property, and my German shepherd kicked it's a** and sent it home w/it's tail between his legs!

@gmb3544 what kind of GSD do you have,male or female? how old? I love almost all dog breeds, but GSD is my favorite, thats what i have always had. The one i have now is a female, first female i ever had, got her from a shelter back in Feb after the sad loss of my male Tank who past last Nov.. ripped me up, loved him. The dog i have now is great too, she was shy and timid at first; her prev owner abused her, now she has come along; she is friendly, but barks and growls when strangers approach.

What kind of dumbass bullshit test was this? NOTHING about this is scientific...dogs are individuals and bites occur under vastly different circumstances. I don't know what he was trying to prove but these results are meaningless as anything beyond a sensational video display.

well the bigger the head is stronger the bite force. if the dog is obese then he might not hav a ghud bite force as much as the same breed but muscular. most deffinently the american bully will have a stronger bite force than the apbt nd the pit was a little small but doesnt mean it aint strong

@thereaping10x , On the animal conflicts sight the scientist says that there is no way to measure the bite force of a dog because you have no way of knowing if it is their best effort. The dogs with longer canines will naturally measure more because of the pressure exerted on a very small area ( the two long canine teeth ) .... The pit bull on the other hand has shorter canines and the pressure is spread over more teeth thru out the mouth. I have seen a pit chew up a golf ball like candy...

I think they jsut tested the 3 most common guard/proector dogs...
It has been proven that dogs bit force is directly proportional to their head size.
but their bite force isnt all the matters bc almost any large breed dog cna bite hard enough to bring a grown man to his knees or worse but there are other factors to consider like aggression speed and strength to pull a person to the ground.

....nah, a doberman would not have as great a bite force as any of the animals from this vid, as they lack the degree of muscle in the jaws of these 3 powerful dogs, which are (at least, in my opinion) the best fighting dogs as well.

....not neccesarily. the bigger the head, in relation to the body, as well as a large proportion of muscle, and a high sagittal crest means a greater bite force.

...nah, he would never make such a statement, as many experts (and, he knows a great deal, and this is obvious from his vids) know that is not possible.....pit bulls are not machines, and cannot 'lock' there jaws no more than we can.....however, they do have a stronger bite, and it is certainly more difficult to break the grip of a pitbull, once it has attached his jaws to you.

..no animal on the face of this planet have 'locking' jaws...as it is impossible...they are living creatures just as we are, which tire and fatigue as well......no animal can hold his jaws closed for too long....it is far too tiring, and NO study concludes the pitbull can achieve that feat.

...i`ve seen plenty of vids of pitbulls attacking people, and plenty of times pitbulls have gotten out of their yeards, to attack me. (of course, i jumped on the nearby fence). but, the pitbulls did not 'lock' there jaws, or anything of the sort......they just bit, and then shortly afterwards let go. and, in defense of myself, i`d try and strangle any dog that bites me...not that i agree with animal cruelty...but, i`m not going to let the dog hurt me.

..i`m not a pitbull hater. i just don`t agree with such impossible statements as 'pitbulls' have 'locking jaws' or anything of the sort, because, according to ANY expert, that is simply not true. and, yeah, pitbulls are awesome animals....never said otherwise. but, i except actual, proven studies......there is a lot of sites (without verification of ANY kind) stating the pitbull can lock his jaws. unless he is mechanical, it is impossible.

..why wouldn`t the pitbull give his full bite?.......when biting anything, pitbulls often bite with every ounce of force, looking to destroy the 'animal'. and, MANY other dogs have been measured, as well.....and, as far as i know, that measurement from the rottweiler is the higher measurement known.
