As a Futurist and experimental filmmaker, Vertov wrote in We: Variant of a Manifesto, "Our path leads through the poetry of machines, from the bungling citizen to the perfect electric man."
Hey guys, this is Jeff Myers/Jeff Jinx, lead singer with 'I Am Alone', in 1982 we put you on the bill at quite a few of our London gigs - notably 'The Embassy Club'. I'm sure you went by the name 'Photostat Robots' back then. I was really impressed. This is the kind of thing you have to see live and up close. Look me up on FaceBook if you get the time. Best wishes! :)
Fotostat i like better cause they actually look futurist, especially with these outfits! Way ahead of their time, 30 years ahead!, Shock Tik and Tok are quite good, but kinda freakishy for me. Fotostat are No.1 in robot dancing!
awesome... this was unique for the time and pretty entertaining. Alot of the street dance moves of present day originate from the movements from these artists.
i remember what it was like at the height of robot dance mania in the uk... there would be all these "robot circles" where we would gather around in a semi-circle and watch 2 guys do the robot for what seemed like hours. sounds boring but its better than what the kids dance in circles to today!
The music seems to be an early electro-pop, hard to discover with no vocals. Back then there was a whole sea of this kind of music nevertheless the image, the music, the dance moves, everything kicks ass!
this is awesome!! Waaaaaaaaay better than those STUPID dances and moves that idiotic pathetic wanna be rappers/hip hoppers are doing today. long live the electro 80s!!!
HI. jajajajjaaaaa, how cn i frget this, im edo nuñez n i was the 1st. dancer, now im living in colombia nd is soooooooooooo nice find this video again, tnks j.andrenocr. blesssssss
I live in Surrey. Surrey existed in the 80s, in the way that it took all the money from the North and everyone wore red braces down South and had big phones... I lived in the north in the 80s, and the only people there who had red braces got them twanged against their nipples... they deserved it, just like the money grabbers who are now stuffed in the 2000s.
Robotic dancing done this well is very cool, though. Can anyone do a red brace twang in a robotic stylee? If so, let's have a video of it.
WOW--i cant believe i found this--my brother used to dance robotic to this,as an interlude to fashion shows in the early 80s. Hes 44 now and still has electric blue hair!!!
Ive got this 7" single by them. They were great. I DID live through the 80s, and it was fantastic! Its great theres lots of new synth and electro acts about in 2008. Although I live in 1983, I still by vinyl if it's good synth!

I lived through the 80's. It was crap. Terrible movies, terrible fashion, terrible music. I remember breathing a sigh of relief when 1990 arrived. I don't understand what fascination kids these days have with the 80's. Although we did have Prince and the Talking Heads...
I remember these guys coming to the "Top Rank" night club in Reading around 1982. They also tried releasing a record call "Brave New World" which was pretty rubbish and never did very well. They also appeard on UK T.V "Swap Shop" singing their single and dancing, think I still have it on video tape somehwere. Great dancers though and inspired many others on the dance floor. The 80's were the best......
yes i thought the future in the 80s would be great space opera, us being on space stations wiuth robots etc. Little did I think it would be catering for te worst powers of a 1984 situation. Yes we have gone backwards. Breakdance turned into gangster rap nasa lies to us about mars & other findings aids cures withheld ufo technology silenced free energy suppressed do I need to go on?
No don't go on midguardz LOL still I agree with what you say the future has been a giant let down it is I thought we would be exploring space with Starthips by now and electric cars would be everywhere
I guess we really had no idea how backward and stupid a lot of the conservative policitians really were and are , especially New Labour
is there a video or dvd still available of fotostat to buy as i was on the tele singing with them when i was just 13 please reply as soon as possible thankyou
sorry..just watched this again and i'm afraid it's just a bit too camp for me! Tik And Tok are the masters of robotics, and yes they can rock...check out the Intolerance album or the new tracks on their MySpace site.

I remember buying this single when it came out, still have it with a load of old 80's 7"s.Sadly doesn't stand the test of time as well as the likes of foxx/Kraftwerk etc.Strangely remember seeing them on the tube - Bakerloo Line one day after this single came out.Their only single? B-side of "Fotostat" was almost exactly the same as A side.
I'll maybe upload some more Fotostat later. I've got about 30 full 3 hour tapes of stuff to sort through though. I still like this track, sounds like something out of an 80's sci-fi film, e.g. the Blade Runner / Vangelis stuff.
wowwww one of the twins is my band instructor........i dont know which one he is though.
