  • smoke a joint and look at the stars

  • How the fuck could you dislike this?

  • @213SEMPERFI

Probably some creationist, religious retards. I don't see how or why would anyone else than them dislike this.

  • @Vislav Haha I agree with you (:

  • Half photos are wrong credited to Hubble. First one (Andromeda galaxy) and some others taken by AMATEUR astronomers with their own equipment.

  • Unreal Tournament music :D

  • Man just look at all the fancy space parts God created for us to look at! He knew we'd find em :)

  • Think for yourself is simultaneously the best and worst advice ever given.

  • I agree with Dawkins/Hitchens when they say "There's so much majestic beauty to the universe, it's shocking that some people can turn away from that and be inspired instead by the burning bush"

  • @Handimarta stupid muslim Allah didn't create shit...u say this bcuz your parents would probably kill u if u said something else

  • This made me want to replay mass effect for some reason..

  • The background music reminds me of Metroid Prime. I miss that game. I wish to know where this music came from.

  • last 10 second ruined it all

  • Fantastic stuff, especially the Creation Astronomy Debunked series. It doesn't take any high-power telescope Hubble Telescope for anyone, anywhere to be interested in astronomy. I have a telescope with only an aperture of 8 and live in an urban area, but I just have to pop the light filter on during a moonless night and point it towards northeastern skies at 50-60 degrees at around 9o'clock to see the most brilliant galaxy in the sky: M31, also known as Andromeda.

  • I feel quite cozy. I'm a tiny little ape living in the quiet suburbs of the milkyway, orbiting a tiny insignificant star.

  • Allah the creatures of the universe had been informed also to the people by "SMS" since +/- 1,400 years a go, when Mr.Hubble, Copernicus, Galileo etc. were not born yet ; "It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty), and measured out stages for her; that you might know the number of years and the count (of time). Nowise did Allah create this but in truth and righteousness. He detaileth the revelations for people who have knowledge.."(QS.10:5)

  • @handimarta: So? Did he give a value for the Hubble constant? Did he say, "Verily, the Earth is not in the middle"? That would have meant something, but alas, you might just as well consult Nostradamus or Bill the drunk.

  • eagle nebula looks so much more like a horses head than the horse head nebula

  • "Unto Allah belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. Allah is Able to do all things. Lo! In the creation of the heavens and the earth and (in) the difference of night and day are tokens (of His Sovereignty) for men of understanding, Those who remember Allah standing and sitting and lying on their sides and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: Our Lord! Thou hast not created this in vain! Glory be to Thee; save us then from the chastisement of the fire:"QS3:189-191

  • @handimarta Whoops! Looks like Allah doesn't know his cosmology, because in his book he also states that the Earth existed before the Sun, Moon and rest of the Universe. Oh well, another ancient myth bites the dust.

  • @AndromedasWake No Sir, Allah knows everything coz He created the universe. Allah had been informed human about +/- 1,400 years ago also about "The Big Bang Theory".., "Have not those who disbelieve known that the sky and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and we made every living thing of water? Will they not then believe?"(QS.21:30)

  • @handimarta That is not the Big Bang Theory. That's vague a best. Every living thing is not made of water, and the Quran makes a contradiction when specifying that Humans were made from the dust of the Earth. Does that mean not every living thing is made from water, or that Human's are not a living thing?

In the Quranic account, the Earth is separated from the sky and forms *BEFORE* the Sun. This is a fundamental contradiction with scientific theory. Didn't Allah know this?

  • @AndromedasWake Allah said that "...the sky and the earth were of one piece..." that's mean the earth is a small part of the sky, the sky means included the solar system (the earth is part of the solar systems), and the solar systems is the small part of the galaxies and the galaxies is in the part of the universe...which one a contradiction statement with scientific theory? and any the living creatures in the earth can not life without water, and dust without water and oxygen is nothing..

  • @handimarta "that's mean the earth is a small part of the sky"

So that's what it means? Well, people already believed that LONG before the Quran was written.

"living creatures in the earth can not life without water,"

That's not what the passage says. It says they were made from water. Water is a chemical compound, and our chemistry requires other elements. Secondly, the fact that life requires water was known to humans many thousands of years ago. The Quran has no new knowledge for its time.

  • @handimarta Now, I have challenged you to explain why the Quran is wrong about the chronology of the formation of the Sun and Earth, and why it is wrong about the orbits of the planets. If you do not explain these in your next comment, I will conclude you unable and cease to debate with you further.

  • @AndromedasWake Nothings wrong with chronology of the formation of the Sun and earth, please read carefully Sir. Allah just explaining in general term condition that "...the sky and the earth were of one piece...", So "one piece" means like a ball, all of the parts of the universe (incl. sun and earth) were joints together and than separate them (the Big Bang), thats all. Necessarily after that the galaxies formed and then the solar system formed (the sun with all the planets (incl. the earth)

  • @AndromedasWake Allah SWT said that; "But it is clear revelations in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge, and none deny Our revelations save wrong-doers."(Quran Surah Al 'Ankabut (29) verse 49), and please remember that Allah teached and explained to the people since +/- 1,400 years a go, before Mr. Stephen Hawking, Einstein, Hubble, Coppernicus, Galileo etc. were not born and life yet with they're scientific and telescope created by them, that's amazing right? Allah is The Best!

  • @handimarta And just to respond here again, because you failed to address my point completely...

"Allah knows everything coz He created the universe."

Except he doesn't know that the Sun formed before the Earth. FAIL. Any god I worship has to be well aware of this fact to earn my respect. Allah is crap at astronomy.

  • @AndromedasWake Allah said "And if you ask them, Who created the sky and the earth and made the sun and the moon subservient, they will certainly say, Allah. Whence are they then turned away?"(QS.29:61) "And He it is Who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all (orbs) travel along swiftly in their celestial spheres."(QS.21:33) "It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit."(QS.36:40), What do you think? He's FAIL?

  • @handimarta Yes. None of those passages have any physical meaning. People already had already understood for thousands of years the motion of the Sun and Moon, and orbs do not travel in spheres. All orbits are characterised by ellipses (see Kepler's laws). Quoting scripture at me isn't going to impress me, especially when all of its so-called "revelations" were pinched from the ancient Greeks. Still waiting on your explanation for why the Sun came after the Earth according to Allah.

  • @AndromedasWake Allah also informed the people about "the death star theory" it would be the day of resurrection happen. He said that; "...“When is the Day of Resurrection?” So when the sight becomes dazed, And the moon is buried in darkness. And the sun and the moon are brought together," (QS.75: 6-9)

  • @handimarta What death star theory? The Sun and the Moon will never crash into each other according to simple astrophysics. There is no theory that predicts anything from that verse. You are looking at incredibly vague passages and trying to squeeze them into modern science where they don't fit. This to me is a sign of weakness of faith, and a certain desperation to validate your faith in the modern world where it is out-dated and unnecessary.

  • @handimarta

    WOOT!?

The death star is for real??

Well, we better behave then. We don't want to give Emperor Palpatine an excuse to blow up Earth..

  • @Primz83 YES! Believed or not; Allah SWT the creator of the universe had been informed us that the day of ressurection when the star is death stated as below "He questions: “When is the Day of Resurrection?” So when the sight becomes dazed, And the MOON is buried in DARKNESS. And the SUN and MOON are JOINED TOGETHER,-" (Quran Surah Al Qiyamat (75) verse 6 -9) Allah had been informed the SUPERNOVA since +/- 1,400 years a go, when Mr.Eisntein, Hubble, Copernicus, Galileo etc. were not born yet ;

  • @handimarta

    Cool!

So Allah IS Emperor Palpatine and "the death star" is his vengange.. This means Mohammed is Darth Vader, and wookies are.... Infidels?

  • Are these all visable light photos? (I'm sure you know what I mean by that lol)

  • The pictures of Mars and Jubiter, is that as close as Hubble can see those planets? Seems odd to me that it can see galaxies and nebulas much farther away in great detail, but it can't zoom in on planets in our own solar system to see e.g. craters and stuff like that... or atleast I haven't seen a picture like that.

  • @MrKennyKRH Even at their extraordinary distances, galaxies and nebulae appear MUCH larger than planets on the sky. The reason they don't to our eye is because they're faint. The Andromeda Galaxy, for example, is 5x wider than the full moon. We can't see that with the eye, we just see the very centre as a fuzzy star. Planets are tiny. The one which appears largest is Venus, just over 1 arc minute wide at most. M87 is 55MLY away and looks 7x wider! Hubble images of planets are pretty impressive!

  • @AndromedasWake Arhh, okay. I didn't know that... that's actually pretty amazing to think about that they look so much bigger in the sky than planets. Thanks for explaining that. =)

  • nice one science has proved over and over again that there is no all powerful being and on top of that the bible contradicts its self i just wan us to be able to freely travel the stars we have be come to convertible and lazy so haven't advanced

  • Stephen hawking, just because you don't understand the power of God and his son Jesus Christ and how they created and hold the universe together...don't feel bad, nobody does, till there born again and the blinders come off, but you will never know with the attitude, your the greatest and there's no one above you, you must humble your self to this great God that shows you his handy work in the night sky.. in the human body..in a running dog.. so that you are without excuse, humble yourself

  • @mreloo I don't normally respond to comments like this, but I just want to let you know that you're an arrogant twat!

  • @AndromedasWake he did come off arrogant, thats for sure. however, everyone view is different and unless you know for a fact how the universe was made... everyone is entitled to their own opinion. i do believe god created this all. i have no proof except for the things ive been taught and what i believe in. and that is better than not believing anything at all. to have faith in a higher power you somehow knows exist.

  • @Southern007 Religious "knowledge" is inherently arrogant by its nature. I have never stated that I know for sure that God did not create the Universe. In this video I merely stated that the claim of a 6,000 year old universe was false. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but all opinions are not equal. To believe something so fundamental without evidence is an insult to critical thinking, and to construct a religion around it is an insult to human dignity. Faith is not a virtue. Doubt is.

  • @AndromedasWake you should have done what you "normally do" cus "even a fool is thought to be wise when he keeps his mouth closed"

  • @mreloo **AndromedasWake you should have done what you "normally do" cus "even a fool is thought to be wise when he keeps his mouth closed" **

Are you seriously suggesting that you are wise enough to open your own mouth in that context? When you make a joke like that, you are supposed to put a smiley. Otherwise, people will think you are actually a self-important fanatic. :D Or are you? If I had a religion based on lies, power, and greed, I would make talking about it wrong, too.

  • Dear friends,touch,love & learn please...

  • this makes me realize how damn small we are and everything is.

I will never know what happens there and will never understand when i see stuff like this. I can try to understand whan sorrunds me, but it makes me sad that i will never know even 1/∞ of what i saw here. Damn i want to know everything...

  • This makes perfect sense! :) A God created the heavens and the earth, (everything) including time.. So in Gods 'place' time does not exist hence he is eternal and was never born & will never die. He didnt snap his fingers and there was the earth & the universe... He created it over a LONG time (which to him was a "tiny fraction of a second".. not really) by forming chemicals etc creating the big bang which explains the expansion of the universe (explosions move outwards) Honest opinions?

  • NGC 2207 Merger looks like an owl.

  • "Inspired?"

Hah, what do you think? Maybe I should scrap biology in favor of astronomy or cosmology or something of the sort. This is mind-boggling. This is brilliantly uplifting.

    It tingles.

  • This is definitely the music from the Geothermal map on Unreal Championship.

  • Think God created the 13.7 billion year old light 6thousand years ago, nope! that is fucking stupid, I believe he created it 13.7 billions years ago! doesn't anywhere state the age of the universe in the bible, if ya read genesis its written like a poem! its an expression of how it was done, if God told us how everything was really done! what point would there be in learning???

    anyway awesome pictures!

  • This got voteboted... just check the stat. Vote to dilute this shit.

  • That was really cool. But it made me wonder, what our galaxy would look like from another galaxies perspective. Does that make sense?

  • The NGC 2207 merger should be called the owl galaxy or something (it kinda looks like an owls eye`)

  • @yohanZ95

Agreed. I though it's name was owls galaxy or owls eyes galaxy... until he show NGC 2207...

  • Good one !

think the music could be better (personaly)

  • amazing i think the way everything is made (by my research, facts, and opinion and theorys) something somehow traveled faster than the speed of light there for making random shit happen suchs as stars exploding and billions of years then life started and took its course. somehow then intelegence and learning has made everything. well.......... GREATER!

  • that antennae galaxy looks a bit like a yin yang.

  • Beautiful! Thank you Andromeda. Tom

  • Eskimo Nebula is my favorite now =D (Video is simply stunning)

  • I wish I could go to these places.

  • Hmm.. from the statistic, this vid got voteboted...

    Anybody noticied that too?

  • Whats the name of this song?

  • Truly, TRULY awesome. By whatever providence all this exists, through chance or creation, the end product is... beyond words.

  • Awesome... nothing left to say...

  • I just love space photo's, who doesn't? Especially how many galaxies are out there fascinates me to no end. And they are beautiful. I suppose we are fortunate to live in the age where we can see these things, because until the last few decades no one on earth had ever seen them.

Aside from possibly Mars and (moons of) Jupiter though, they are all places that no one from earth will ever physically visit most likely, being how far away they are. Which is also kind of wondrous to me somehow.

  • big

  • What does the Andromeda Galaxy picture at 1:00 do in this video? It was taken by R. Gendler, not HST.

  • Also, Milky Way center (2:00) was taken by Spitzer Space Telescope, Horsehead Nebula (2:54) by T. A. Rector, Rosette Nebula (3:35) by R. Gendler, Trifid Nebula (3:47) by T. Boroson.

  • I would love it if everyone would stop bringing GOD into the comments, God, is in a book called the bible, spend your time looking at the skies that`s a fact, yes we came from somewhere, but it sure wasn`t god, omg

  • soooo lovly. ^.^

  • the evil eye galaxy type- I've always been fascinated by it. its just so...evil eyed :P

but you have to admit, with their rich blue and offwhite mixing, galaxies are most beautiful to look at.

  • To think that Hubble has captured such fantastic images of our Universe, even before the current mission to "fix" it, is absolutely astounding. I ravenously look forward to seeing what Hubble can do, now that it's been "corrected".

  • Hubble himself said: "There is no evidence of expansion and no restriction of the time scale, no trace of spatial curvature...."

  • Tastfuly Done Its Amazing How Many

Types Of Galaxy's A Number To High To

Count But The Evil Eye Galaxy Looks More

    Angry Than Evil

  • EPIC

  • isn't this track from unreal tournament 1999?

  • Sure sounds similar, but maybe a little too "heavy" to be from UT´99

  • i think the most intersting is this Hoag's object it is so unusual

  • It's almost saddening that all of that is out there yet we cant even send someone to out closest planet

  • rosetta nebula is beautiful.

  • excuse me, *rosette*

  • was a nice video, until you barraged us with your opinions at the end.

  • Was a nice reply until you barraged us with your opinion of opinions.

    Lighten up there Sally.

  • im the 420th rater

  • For those of us awed and humbled by our universe...this is a great slideshow of what we can see in space so far....great thoughts beginning at 3:50.

  • in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth.. well, let's see, 'what day was that?' and it didn't say earth and then heaven so..

  • this video is weird

  • ?!? The point was that *other* chemistries could logically support life, not just the Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen versions we have here on earth. On this thought experiment world of mine, our earthly STP could well *be* an environment for one of their "extremophiles". As for a common ancestor, life by Abiogenesis *could* have happened more than once, but, one strain dominated and more than likely merged to form the eukaryotes from prokaryote ancestors.

  • Yuck.. nah. You have to take your evolution into your own hands to get there. Natural selection wouldn't do. It would have to be artificial selection. What I am referring to is the possibility that some very hot world could have evolved life unlike anything we are familiar with and it could be based on other elements that our parochially narrow views make us think are the only ones that can support life. Just go down or up a level or two in the periodic table to find compatible elements.

  • so extremophiles are the rule as far as common ancestry's concerned.

  • Sure. All you need are the right combinations of chemical compunds. Silicon is a great substitute for Carbon, as is Germanium and Tin. I can easily imagine life based on Germanium or Tin at really high temps and using Flourine in place of Hydrogen, Aresenic in place of Nitrogen and so forth. It would, obviously, not be life as we know it, but would be life nonetheless. Biology does not need to be limited to CHON based forms.

  • and maybe you'll evolve the digestive tract of a tube worm so you can go to space and metabolize thermally directly off the reactor..

  • in order to know what our milky way looks we'd have to travel away from the plane some 25 to 35 million years light speed to start to see the forest from the trees.

  • Comment removed

  • hey, do we no how the mily way looks?

  • Yes and No. We have views from the inside looking out, but not from the outside looking in.

Google "Hubble Space Telescope" and then once on the Hubble site, Search "Milky Way" to see the pictures we do have.

  • @socer777

It illustrated the center of the milky way. The reason this is possible is because we are far out close to the edge of the galaxy. That's why we can't illustrate the entire milky way galaxy.

  • Protection, slappy. The cosmos is a very hostile place for life when you need millions of years for evolution to take place. Planets are safe havens for biological processes. Where would you likely find life in a desert, under overhanging rocks in the moist shadows or out in the open on the bare rock exposed to the heat of the suns light ? Other possible kinds of life, silicon based or metal based, are much much slower and probably would be hardier, but they, too would need a stable home.

  • Metal based life? As far as I know that's impossible with all we know about biology. To create life you need a very specific balance of proteins and other chemicals.

  • why is it that sentient observers can only develop on these piece of shit poor excuse for a crumb sized planetary bodies?

  • Those pictures are amazing!

  • Hey Andromedaswake love your channel and videos...a question just came to my mind if the universe is expanding and galaxies are moving a part how do you explain the merger galaxy?

  • Galaxies generate their own massive gravitational wells, so if a smaller galaxy nearby gets a little too close, if get sucked in and absorbed by the larger galaxy.

In fact it's theorized that our galaxy the milky way is currently absorbing the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy, and in an estimated 2 billion years, our galaxy will collide with Andromeda.

  • I love these videos. Undescribable beauty fills the universe.

  • I am heading north close to the arctic circle to do industrial medic work, I am so excited...long nights cloudless skies and oh yeah..the Aurora Borealis.

  • That Eskimo nebula was pretty cool. It took a moment to see why they named it that. I didn't get why they named the next one the crab nebula though... I didn't really see the crab in it. But that doesn't mean it wasn't awesome! All of the pictures were!

  • Amazingly, it didn't get named for about 800 years! Rosse named it the Crab, because his first drawing of it resembled one. After he improved his telescope, he realised it actually looked nothing like a crab in detail! But the original name stuck, as these things often do =P

  • Ah, that would do it. Pretty cool. You seem to know a bunch of not so useful but interesting facts. Of course I've got a lot of those too. XD

  • Sanngot. There is much pleasure to be gained from trivial knowledge =D.

  • Aaaah . . . perspective. I just kept saying - "faaark" right through this.

  • nice advice at the end....

  • Crappy thing is, anyone who is upset by your comments at the end of the video will most often not be convinced by the empirical evidence of that ancient light...

  • YES!!!!! moto chodai

  • what do u know we could be buying more than 100 of these things with the 700 billion dollar payday being given out. thats sad

  • The humans has been held back by religion far too long. It's a major brake for our progress.

We should have been travelling between the stars by now. It's been a fantasy of mine as long as i've understood what stars and the universe are.

I devour every science fiction movie, and some novels. :)

  • You need to get some of the sh*t I'm smoking - Then you'll be travelin amongst the stars alright!!!

  • lol !!!!

  • Thanks noToast........But I see some people are to be found wanting in the humor department.

    (thumbs-downs)

This is a serious subject we are discussing. I know this. I am a human. I will not allow dogma/childhood programing to interfere with my reason, and natural human morals.

Ted Hagard - You are a god-send to people like me who are aware of how rotten/false any religion is.

Praise your lord, and keep on sucking!!!!

  • @BelieveNoGod think religion holds us back? are you the one studying to move between the stars, or are you expecting the technology to just come to you. most people with a dream go after it. just because you dont believe in God doesnt make him the one to blame for us 'being held back'. real women and men go after what they want and religion has been an inspiration for most to do such things. think before you speak

  • What is the track you are playing in this vid?

  • Andromeda nearly reduces me to tears it is so beautiful.

  • Antichrist?......WTF?

    KKKKKKKKK!

  • Beautiful pictures. Hubble is the most amazing telescope ever built.

  • damn youtube needs to increase their resolution

    :/

  • There is actually an option that allows a high-res video to be uploaded. I think its only avalable to sertain users (like directors) but I don't know for sure. There is something being done about that I can assure you.

  • You can try to add &fmt=18 to the URL, e.g. /watch?v=PhoJCJZNi8Q&fmt=18

This will give you the hi-res version of the video, with stereo sound (if available).

  • beautiful video!

  • The UT04 soundtrack adds just that perfect flair to all of this.

  • Watching your later videos, the track name is "Level16" (whatever that's supposed to mean). Probably has an official name, but it's not listed.

    Once again, great video.

  • Every time i look at pictures of other galaxies i feel so.... meaningless lol.

its absolutely amazing at how beautiful formations of rocks and gas can be. great video!

  • "God" didnt create shit

  • Sure he does, it just dosen't smell like ours.

  • remember, you're the one who introduced God into this topic...

  • Right?

It was a 5 star vid until that 1 star comment.

  • 5 stars? I see about 1500...OH the video! :p

  • Nice use of the Unreal Tournament 2004 soundtrack :D, great video too.

  • thats fucken cool. Thanks for posting the vid.

  • Think of the real possibility that somebody out there in one of those galaxy's could be looking right at us, while we're looking right back.

  • "Think of the real possibility that somebody out there in one of those galaxy's could be looking right at us, while we're looking right back."

What's even more interesing is that even if they have a telescope powerful enough to see people on the surface of the earth, and they saw you looking through your telescope, they wouldn't really be lookng at you because by the time the light they're looking at reached their eyes, you'd have been dead for hundreds of thousands to billions of years! :-)

  • You bastard, you ruined the touchy feeling. :'-(

  • You don't think the ability to see billions of years into the passed when we look at a star from earth is amazing? When you look up into the sky it's like watching the history of the universe. I think that's amazing. You can't get a better record of history than watching it actually happen.

  • I see your point. It's like if there is some one 6 billion light years away they could be seeing our solar system just starting. It's crazy.

  • Kind of amazing to think about just how huge the universe really is, huh?

  • Mind-fuckingly amazing..... If only creationist knew what they were missing... Such a sad small world view they have.

  • "Mind-fuckingly amazing..... If only creationist knew what they were missing... Such a sad small world view they have."

It is too bad they throw away their lives praying to an imaginary man when there's so much more to experience and see.

  • RAmen.

  • It's all very humbling isn't it? To be so lucky as to live in a time when we can see such splendor.

    Great Vid

  • Cool video. I think 80% of those images have, at one time or another, been on my desktop :P

  • A galaxy walks into a pub. The landlord looks him up and down and says,

    "Get out, you're barred!"

  • Ha! I'm stealing that :P
