  • Don't want to rock the boat here, but, even I thought the loop manouver was instigated a tad early, as the height didn't look particularly adequate to start with. I sometime think that pilots trust the dials too much, in a display situation, and actually fail to properly judge the situation with the best piece of kit they have; "The mark one, Eyeball"...

  • how can this be on you tube if the camera is broken

  • I love the fact he just sat there calmly until the end and just pulls the lever that ejects him out in a casual way on the LAST possible second lol.

As if he's going like "oh well, here we go again, im pulling out..."

  • and how did he make combat pilot with stupid maneuvers like this?

  • Didnt he get kicked from the team? I think he did!

  • "let's see what this does..FUU...."

  • this is not the question of "THE PILOT WANTED TOO MUCH!!!!!" This is the question of the QNH, QFE and the minimum altitude...

  • bad judgement

  • He said, "Fuck it, why not?"

  • he looked chilled out ? U americans are stupid....how can u see that, if u cant see the guys face?

  • Why does everyone comment that he looked calm? How would anyone know what the hell his facial expressions look like? He could've totally been freaking out and no one would know.

What do people expect him to do in a tiny cockpit? Flail his arms around like gumby?

  • @delanogaston lol...great post. People saying he was calm...yes you have to stay calm when you are in a seat belt strapped to the seat tight as can be. LOL Also why would anyone overreact. Stay calm and pull the ejection seat.....looks like everything worked fine. If he panicked he would of been dead.

  • @papavalium bah, if you cant even write in your native language, you dont have the right to have an opinion "he would HAVE been dead" and not "he would of been dead" what the hell makes your construction any sense at all

  • wouldve been bad ass if he waived lol see ya !

  • He owns Boeing some money, around 15,000++ Million Dollars+

  • @SharpShots2 boeing doesn't own the aircraft, the taxpayers do

  • he looks so chilled out

  • he was so relaxed I dont understand it

    so like

    Fuck you plane HAHAHHA

  • wow

  • he looked relaxed when he when and before he ejected =]]

  • The pilot is not the victim here. Prior to this show he had crashed twice before due to a maverick mind set. So...off the team he went. Adios MF. He clearly didn't have the altitude as he rolled inverted and began his pull.

  • @Imustfly no wonder he looked so calm.

  • Who approves wasting money like this?

  • i saw this happen it was at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Mountain Home Idaho. it was a big fire ball.... thought he died.... i didn't see him eject and yes the altimeter was set wrong.... oh well every one is fine and no death good thing

  • Got out just in time

  • this was the video of the horrific ukrain airshow right

  • @DFxWoLvEz

nooo, you are not right..this is an f-16 from the Thunderbirds..

  • @DFxWoLvEz nope

  • This sucks for Chris Strickland. He's the pilot. They kicked him off the team.

  • @RUDEGOOD well, he's only human...:-) but when he starts that loop you can see him looking into the ground, but he doesn't seem to care that the ground is closer than his altimeter says.......that's like saying that you don`t deserve a speeding ticket, because your speedometer is broken. :-)

  • @lordbacon82 When he looked towards the ground he may well have thought it looked a bit closer than usual, but presumably the understanding was that perspective plays tricks and standing orders are to fly on instruments at critical moments during such dangerous manoeuvres; so he didn't roll off at the top of the loop. He was a Thunderbird pilot after all! So presumably bottling out of a manoeuvre just because perspective appeared to contradict instruments...!!

  • More than likely pilot error I'm guessing so what happens to an officer that destroys a 20+ million dollar military asset? Court Martial, lose his wings. Not sure how much more but that sucks =[

  • lol tha's funny xD

  • If only you could see the pilot's face under the visor and mask. That "oh shits" look on his face before pulling the handle must have been priceless.

  • Jeez..!! you guys had way too much coffee today. Chill out! A lot of bickering for folk who no doubt are fans of anything that flies (or aero-sexuals, as a friend calls me!). Just be pleased that although the pilot made a mistake and he wrecked a perfectly good warbird, that thankfully he 'punched out' ok. I just hope his 'chute brought him down safely. Tragic to run out of air when performing aerobatics. The ground races up to meet you fast when mistakes like this are made. Great reactions.

  • this is an f-16. The pilot is from the thunderbirds, which makes it an F-16C, and you can tell by the wings - when pulling G the wing edges fold over.

  • He apears to have a Thunderbird badge on his flightsuit..that would make the aircraft an F16

  • my ultralight didnt have an ejection seat. if you make a mistake, you ride it into the ground! hoo-ah!

  • this airplane has a stab, so this is not a delta wing..........

  • The delta wing is a wing platform in the form of a triangle, named after the Greek uppercase delta which is a triangle (Δ).

Now - idiot - where in the previous sentence do you see the word TAIL??????

Keep talking - you're proving my point!!!!!!!!

  • There is no Delta Wing in the F-16. A delta wing will eliminate elevators, since they are typically attached to the ailerons. Exceptions to the case would be the Eurofighter Typhoon, IAI Kfir, and likewise. Delta wings go from the leading edge of the wing to the back end of the aircraft, eliminating the horizontal stabilizers.

  • what a shithead... the way he did it, he barely had time to complete the 360 turn. i bet he didn't even use airbrakes while spinning. and he didn't even take into account that his speed will be so low that he won't even support his plane's weight. and even if he would - he'd probably end up in a stall anyway.. that sick rat fuck deserved to die.. too bad didn't happen..

  • you realize your an asshole right? people make mistakes. calm down.

  • EAT SHIT AND DIE YOU CRAZY MOTHER FUCKER !!! that mistake could kill dozens of people! could leave so many children orphans! could shatter the lifes of countless people! like it happened at the Rammstein air show! by that mistake he didn't even risk his life because he ejected! but he risked the lifes of others!

  • how WOULD YOU FEEL YOU SICK PIECE OF SHIT !!! IF YOUR FAMILY WOULD BE KILLED BY AN IGNORANT SHITHEAD PILOT WHO'S THINKING OF HIS GIRLFRIEND'S TITS WHILE HE CRASHES HIS PLANE IN YOUR FAMILY! IF YOU'RE A PILOT YOU HAVE TO BE *RESPONSIBLE* - A WORD EVEN FORGOTTEN BY THE DEMENTED YOUNGER GENERATION OF THOSE LIKE YOU !!!

  • Yes, granted that any ones around him. It didn't look like an airshow, it looked like a practice flight with no one around. And is it unfair to say that its better to make the casualties of the crash zero rather then one? I guess the real question is if your big talk got yourself into a position like this pilot was, would you eject? How bout it.

  • no no no....this isn't russia where MiG 29s and Su-27s drop out of the sky and land on crowds of people at almost every airshow (don't believe me? most of the airshow crashes on youtube are russian planes). Nobody died here. He was clear so he punched out. That's called good reflex.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually no, that would be Iran. They have the highest crash rate in the world, mainly due to the embargo act that you obviously have no clue about. I'm a professional so bullshitting will not work with me.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually no, I'm an American. I've flown in combat along side the Luftwaffe and I'm not going to go back and forth with you insulting Germany because YOU are a dickhead. I love Germany and have great respect for the pilots of the Luftwaffe. You on the other hand....you were probably an abused child. Go fuck your mother.

  • @furiouswings well put.

  • just to prove the point, type su27 in the search box on youtube. The word 'crash' is the most probable outcome according to the auto text prediction, hahahahhah, and 'landing', dont make me laugh, theres about ten outcomes likely, and that aint one of them. its more likely to suggest vodka than landing, they're disposable planes aren't they!

  • hahahaha!!!!

  • is this the thunderbirds crash from where theres the really good picture of the plane flying cockpit and pilot two meters above the ground?

  • Comment removed

  • It's F-16

  • NOOOO!!! An F-16 has delta wings - this airplane does not!!! Probably an outdated jet from the 1970's used as a trainer.

  • @Earthlinked

you should better stop talking about airplanes........

the f16 has a conventional tail assembly and is CERTAINLY NOT a delta wing

  • Me thinks you are the idiot!!!

Delta wings ARE NOT the tail assembly - IDIOT - they are a wing assembly!!!! And thanks for pointing out that you know NOTHING about ariplanes!!!!!!!!!

  • @Earthlinked should better go and read what is a thrue delta wing dumb ass

  • probably an F-14 or F-18

  • stop showing the negatives,, moron

  • i think i know what happened here, his altimeter was set for mean sea level, not for the place he took off from. for the record, im not a pilot, i just saw the documentary on discovery..:)

  • me too...

  • @lordbacon82 rofl.

  • @lordbacon82 Nice you admit it, Very funny though lol :)

  • what happens when hot shots dont check atis for proper alt. setting.

  • Well, let's be a wee bit lenient folks. I mean...it's the "Air Farce" .....they try so hard to be real pilots, like the NAVY.

  • Navy is a bunch of pussies. Maybe you should figure out what happened here before you start judging the pilot. His altimeter was set higher than it was supposed to so he thought he had more room than he did. and yes that was confirmed. I'm in the "Air Farce" guy and ive seen the documents for this crash.

  • yeah yeah yeah......whatever dude. You shouldn't talk like that to/about the country that babysits your weak ass :) The pilot "WAS" judged. Now STFU :) That's better.......

  • Wow you're a fkin idiot.

  • Wow!! You can almost spell!

  • Wow @ you're too stupid to understand internet text. Maybe you could look up 'abbreviation' in the dictionary?

  • Yeah, hey, DICKFACE with the real mature name......maybe you could use the dictionary to verify the proper way to abbbbrev, duh.

Fuck off, you third world dick :)

  • So.. show me the correct abbreviation for 'fucking.' lmao. At least my immature screen name is spelled correctly. Dickface? That's not immature at all. I didn't even call people that in third grade. Third world? maybe you should use the dictionary to verify the meaning of that term, or at least explain to me why I'm 'third-world.' Can't? Well stfu.

  • Look, you dick, the problem with people like you is you're a direct result of inbreeding. Go swallow something....chlorine, whatever. get out of the genepool. By the way, if you do not have the most simple of comprehension skills (any fool-"ANY") can read what I wrote and understand it! ROFL! Except you, apparently.

FUCKOFF! :) Cme on!>>"3tittiefreak"? Grow the fuck up!

  • Comment removed

  • I would like to see you fly an F-16 then.

  • lol indeed.. ppl with theyre big talk :P

  • i fly one all the time on HAWX....I've fought in over 7 video game wars,I'm a veteran damn it

  • well he is a thunderbird pilot, he should have known better. but im glad he got out ok.

  • Was a Thunderbird pilot, they don't take to well to you planting one into the ground.

  • lol

  • I guess you could describe it as a blemish.

  • gabriel is right, you should not perform a move like this at a low altitude

  • he got out the plane now im happy

  • your not suppost to pulll that move off when your that close to the ground what a dumb polot but you know we all make mistakes

  • More luck then sense!

  • that guy is good i would have totally freaked out in that situation. look how calm he is!

  • how do you know he is calm, you can't see the face expression

  • yes, but something called body language... his arms would have been everywhere, he would be looking all over the place, and would have hesitated.

  • ow yes.body alnguage in a all traped body

  • I'd like to see you throw your arms all over the place in a 6-7g environment. Besides, he's trained.

  • glad he got out ok.

  • lol pause on 0:23 LMFAO

    he's feeling his .....

  • fuck

  • реакция офигеть =)

  • Man that was close.

  • 0:22

  • I think its so amazing that so many people know so much about planes and things. YouTube can be a like reading an encyclopedia! Keep it up guys!

  • I was stationed at Nellis at the time of this crash. He had the wrong barometric pressure set in the altimeter.

  • i don't think so..don't it must be set when the checklist must be controlled?!?!at the voice altimeters checked on QNH (...)etc!?!

  • shit!!!

    what the hell happened!?

  • he crashed? what the fuck do you think happened. Oh no my bad. ET jumped into the COCKpit and started fiddling with his stick and crashed the plane. He tried a move and didnt leave enough ground clearance, simple as.

  • ET must be stopped.

    Yes we can.

  • hey smartass.. he just asked what the hell happened.. idiot

  • More than likely it was a radio link to the ground for the tv shot. I'm not sure how a 16's FDR/CVR is set up but usually video isn't recorded as the pilots inputs to the aircraft are recorded by the FDR therefore actual footage of the pilot isn't relevant.

  • dude black boxes are not destroyed ever

  • blackboxes only use for commertial airliners for your information.

  • how did you get the vid if it was destroyed in the crash???

  • Maybe the camera was transmitting via a radio link?

  • TURN CAPS OFF!!!!!!

  • At an interview he said that he was concentrating too much on the speed and not on the altitude..

  • I have heard that he had his altimeter set wrong. send me a message if you don't understand

  • i dont understand...

  • O_o

  • dumb fuker

  • he dint fly that for long lol :D

  • maybe he couldnt handle the G-force and got knocked unconscious during the maneuvre for few secons, and then came back to life and realized that: if i dont eject, im fukked

  • He didnt black out with G-force, he didnt adjust his altimiter and started the loop too low. Pilot error all the way

  • How do you know? Did he tell u in person?

You are just assuming that its an instrumental/pilot error.

  • I will keep it simple for you look at the insignia on his flight suit. Its that of the US air force display team the thunderbirds- look that up to confirm. Now the plane is obviously an F-16 as thats all they have been flying for a fairly long time and the film is relatively recent. Now go and search the web for information about a thunderbird crash involving an F16. Before I go I guess I better check if you are capable of using Google or do you need your hand held for that as well?

  • How do you know it is a recent video? There are endless factors that could have caused the crash. May be it was done deliberately.. you just don't know.

  • Google Thunderbirds F16 Crash and you will find the official air force report into the incident. Or are you too inept to cope with a modicum of effort?

  • The air force report states explicitly that the pilot failed to adjust his altimeter before the show, leaving the setting on the altitude from a different air base, which means he thought he had more altitude than he had.

The pilot was removed from the thunderbirds.

  • thank you but i doubt that the half-wit has either the brains to research or the balls to apologise

  • Hello KG - still waiting for your next dispay of just how vapid one human can be.

  • yeah, he woke up that morning and decided to scrap his multi million dollar aircraft just for kicks

  • hes like fuck this shit lol XD

  • yeah these F16 is pretty weak. esp when the indian migs beat them during cope india excercise. You can google it also

  • He forgot to reset his altimeter. That's what the official report said. Oh and the guy is still alive. He ejected right on time if you ask me.

  • Also, 33drifta is an idiot. The ejection seat has rockets on the bottom which propel the pilot about 120-150 feet away from the jet. It also automatically opens the parachute which is also designed to inflate fast.

  • Forgot? don't they have checklists to follow before starting up and taking off?....

  • yea thats true i looked it up, also i think we can tell that he ejected...

    =}

  • i think he did half a roll and tried to make a loop then..

  • Is he dead ?

  • he was way to low...from my point of view he was executing some sort of split s maneuver

  • okay lets see

pilots comes out the roll and realized the plane is doomed

    whats he suppose to do

stay in plane and become BBQ A LA pilot

    @psymon2005

no I think the expression was he thinking

    FUCK ME !!

  • ... i think he was thinking FUCK THE PLAIN ... i am getting out of here.

  • Thats a USAF Thunderbird Pilot, i saw those guys perform im surprised that doesnt happen alot

  • the pilot saw he was crashing then he said fuck this then ran away

  • I don't think he ran...

  • he didn't panic thats extream

  • Lol, Bet his face was all "AUGH SHIT NOO!!" under that mask...

  • he forgot to set his altimeter to the elevation of that air base. =p

  • its not a spelling competition you picky wanker.

  • and dude, get over yourself, wow you can spell good. good on ya mate, your my hero!

  • at 1st i thougt it was a game.. thrn wtached it gain.. relized it wasnt lol

  • nice

  • hundreds of people died...

  • uh, the only 'loss' was of one F-16

  • It`s an American jet at an American airshow dude

  • stop at 0:22....if that is a camera trick...LOL

  • erickgpt, just shut the f*ck up you idiot. Your comment just makes no sense and personally, i laugh at your stupidity. You too buckwheat! Damn, dumb people are fuuny as hell.

  • Yes he did eject and the plane did crash i know this because it was on a Shockwave and i record Shockwave so i know all about that crash

  • you dip shit...the only thing that went wrong here was a simple procedure, setting the altimeter to the correct airport elevation. had that happened, the airshow would have been completed without anything going wrong. i give him complete props, he was a half of a second away from death, and had the right state of mind to get the hell out. damn good pilot, not wingless.

  • he ejected the plane when it crashed

  • lol you see the ground beind him and i just think....exactly his thoughts- FUCK THIS IM OUTTA HER- ejects lol

  • Fuckin LOL!!! funniest comment on earth...can so imagine the comical voice saying that hahah.

  • lol i was gonna go for raf i know exactly how a pilot thinks xD

  • yeah right pal, do you know how hard that is?

  • yeah thats exactly the reason i didnt go for it man gotta be a dream job ya know

  • airforce1996wb... your a complete tool..

    "he didnt crash dumb idiot!!!

all he did was eject from the airplane"

... so what?.. he ejected and the plane landed itself did it? Do us all a favour and stick to colouring in books.

  • he is a complete tool, its hard to find completed tools these days

  • The pilot is Captain Chris Stricklin. He actually did manage to eject 140 feet before the ground, just 0.8 seconds to impact! He only sustained minor injuries. His maneuver would have worked if he had remembered the air field elevation was 1100 feet higher than his home air field..

  • dude that was the thunder birds man

    |

    v the guy below me

  • in honor for LT KEVIN DAVIDS BLUE ANGELS #6

  • Which probably means the air plane crashed... Or he landed it and then ejected, which would be a cool performance :)

  • no he deffinatly crashed, i was sitting in the audience

  • hey man did he die? he seemed to eject as it hit the ground!

  • No he didn't die and he ejected 0.8 seconds before impact

  • .8 seconds isn't much time for the parashute to open now is it

  • well i think he ejected 10.8 seconds before impact
