can you choose the magnification amount to aid with focusing? say 2x or 3x so you can still get a sense of the overall picture, or does it just go straight to 12x?

i have a nex3 and whenever i set the manual focus on (M) i cant manual focus, when i turn the focus grip the focus doest change...

and nex3 look alike nex5 so i dont know if these two have the same options..

please help

if you are talking about M shooting mode, that has nothing to do with manual focus

go to menu>camera>AF/MF select>manualfocus, now u have MF

I hate the noisy shutter on this camera ... impossible to use when doing candid street work while trying to remain unobtursive.. It was a deal breaker for me......

@dakaraabbccdd No, not exactly... it has picture style which are somewhat like art filters, but not quite like them... buy an Olympus if you find art filters usefull.

Plus how can you do 12x and 6x zoom they are saying on the 18-55 lens it's just 3x zoom omg this is great to see the NEX-5 takes 12x zoom :) now I'm sure I'll get one

@123azo0oze123 this is digital zoom used as an aid for precise manual focus; the lens has 3x optical zoom, but there will be 10x 18-200mm zoom lens in a few months time for sale.
