Funny enough Vedder only had the "jaw rock" yarl on parts of Ten (which has all their songs people would know), and it wasn't nearly as bad as his impersonators. While his voice is still really deep, that "jaw sound" was gone from his voice completely by PJ's second album, Vs.

Anyway, Hinder should be in this too. Austin Winkler is possibly the worst Vedder impersonator yet.

Yeah i agree with you, and its so interesting to see how many groups base their sound on this exact style of singing. It's probably the most irritating sound in popular music. I'll always love the original Jaw Rock groups like PJ, Stone Temple Pilots and even Alice In Chains....but I will forever despise:

Alice in Chains did not have the "Jaw Rock" sound. Layne's voice was a nasal snarl, not the gravelly yarl common in Jaw Rock. Unfortunately, all of his impersonators (Sully Erna, Aaron Lewis, the dude from Candlebox, guy from Days of The New, etc.) do have the jaw rock yarl added to an exaggerated attempt at Layne's nasal snarl.

Pearl Jam was the second biggest grunge rock group of the 90's, and their first album Ten is commonly considered one of the best albums ever. Ten is the top 11th CD in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame's top 20 albums. I'm not really suprised you haven't heard of them though, as they slowly became less and less known, mostly because they didn't really want all the attention. That and boycotting Ticketmaster and not making music videos Pearl Jam is still around today and is still a really good.
