if you consider it works like any pc the more apps you run the slower it will work ,push and hold the left key you will get a list of active apps click on each one go to exit and close them down ,do this until you are elft with the one you want to use and it will lork faster ,you were trying to update the firmware whilst you were running many apps this is fraught with problems , do one thing at a time .

hope this helps from an n95 user having just got one of these and evaluating it .

Well some on told you to format the memmory ...is a good point ... i think your phone is full whith applications and stuff..and too manny processes in the booting seqvence ... i have an N96 .. but is working like a dream ... after iv formated manny times becouse i didnt know at the beggining how to use it propperly.

P.S. USB is working 2 if you configurated all the stuff correctly. So for me i can say that is a good phone :) btw escuse my englis :)

ive heard shit things bout this nokia n96 ive got the n95 its great and my mate got the n96 and had nothing but problems with it but his has been a white screen and shit. But with your case buddy i think you dont know how to use he phone properly like eg close apps after opening them and let the thing boot up properly instead of clicking all the buttons cause it then gets confused which makes its take longer coms do the same thing like the macs do th colour spiral & pc take ages hope it hepls

The N96 is a smart phone capable of a multitude of things, as for the size its got to fit a lot in.

I can confirm with the latest firmware battery life is a lot better.

I've got an N82 which runs rings around this.......phone called N96. This phone should have been recalled by Nokia. If you have a good one you were just plain fortunate(lucky). I'm SURE most people with experience would agree with me.

Fair Enough... Ive got the Black edition and when i first got it ,it was unbelievely slow like yours but since i updated to V30.033.. it seems to of sorted itself out still laggy in some areas but improved RAM wise from V11.018 . Shame i love the phones feel and design to N95 8gb but yes i agree Nokia have let us down with this one :(. Ive never had a reboot though..

accually it is true, the n96 have alot problems. i have one and i am really tired of it but it have some good stuff and things. i had problems with it in battary: it accually dies fast. it is a little bit slow. systems is all mixed up. a very big problems with the usb: every time i plug it in the computer it shows me the wi fi connectionand it keep showing it self, you cant really use the usb. and there is an important thing is that it switch off and on alot times, it is kinda like restarting

You do realise that most the time you said that the phone wasn't doing anything was actually just the phone gone into low power mode and that it switches the screen off to save power??? As for why it said no firmware update for you, well thats because you prob. have a customised firmware version. Thank your operator for that. Also, why install the slow Java GMail client when you can use the embedded POP/IMAP client under messaging?

hi i bought n96 almost 2 months ago after a lot of problems like freezing and music malfunctioneing finally its software died. it was in warrenty they replaced it with another one and i was amaized to see that the other one was fast and without any problems at all. this means there are some manufacturering faults in some phones even out of the box.

Some advice for you. Hard format your phone with *#7370# and default lock code is 12345. Before formating backup your phone data. And update your mobile's firmware with Nokia Software Updater (NSU). If you are unable to fix your problem then send your phone to me, I'll fix it without any charges. (Lol..)

You have something wrong with the software on that device. I would wipe it (hard reset) and give it a go again and post your review. I have a N96 (NAM) and it is quite responsive actually. The N95-4 is faster but still not too shabby.

I don't see how that's going to make any difference. It was bought with the factory settings etc 10.xx whatever and then upgraded to 11.018 over the air. Am I not reproducing the problem?

Here's the totally bizarre thing. If I leave the phone alone for a few hours it eventually performs reasonably well. But I have to leave it completely alone and not do a thing with it. It's almost like it's having a slow warm up. Weird.

I understand what you are saying and I don't get it either. I have the exact phone and my is nothing like that. Something is wrong with it for sure. At a minimum I would do a settings reset. *#7780#. This will wipe all the settings and see if the performance improves. I'm still waiting on that 12.x.x.x firmware update myself and getting pissed we don't have it yet. Good luck man.

I checked with Nemesis and it now seems the Euro versions have been updated but not UK. This is a UK non-branded N96 bought from the Regent Street branch even though I live on Spain.

OK -but I cant find a product code for N96 Euro version that I can force to the phone. Ugh!
