QUESTION..I GOT A MARANTZ DD-82 PLAYER.HOW DO I MAKE IT SING??...ITS PLAYS THE CASSETTE BUT I CAN`T HEAR ANYTHING.THE VU-METERS ARE JUST BEARLY MOVING.SUGGESTIONS??
Hi, just briefly it will probably be leaking electolytic caps on the small read/write pcb (the board mounted at the back of the transport that the head plugs in to via a ribbon cable. A greta guy called Pascal helped me repair mine. I will try to find links to photos of the repair and post it here for you if it helps. Good luck, Dave.
i have a DCC 900. it seems very common that playback no sound. i measured the RD MUX for dcc at pin 7 and ANA R/ANA L at pin 16/18 for ACC. neither has any output. voltages at each pin of TDA1317 are fine. what was the problem? i am looking to buy a spare board from Netherlands and hopefully can see any difference. other than this, i have to suspect the head is broken.
@DrCassette Hi, mine is no longer working! I have stripped it down and found some damage/burning on the read/write pcb which is located at the back of the transport mechanism. Would you know where I may get a replacement?
What is your exact problem? If it no longer plays back (including analog cassettes) we have the same problem. I will take a look at that circuit board as soon as possible, maybe we can fix it.
@DrCassette Morning Dr! Yes that is my problem - no playback of digital or analogue cassette's. The machine went from intermittent playback to no playback at all very quickly. The machine also still works fine in monitor mode so I think this rules out the AD/DA board. The board I have found damage on is the read/write pcb which is located at the back of the transport unit, it is connected to the head by a ribbon cable, then by another ribbon cable to the "digital" pcb.
@TheSaturn5 Continued... There is evidence of burning around capacitor C143. Hope this gives you something to go at! Did you realise the Technics RS-DC10 is the exact same machine as the Marantz & Philips? I'm shocked that Matsushita/Panasonic/Technics did a badge engineering job! I expect that of sort of thing from Phony Sony but not the mighty Technics!

I know this post is 8 months old, but a minor correction: it would be corrosion, not burning.
The electrolyte that leaks out from a defective electrolytic cap is corrosive to copper. The electrolyte is relatively mild in its acidity, but if the cap still works in the circuit then the problem can go unnoticed for months or even years, allowing the electrolyte time to corrode any copper that it comes in contact with.

I own one DD-82 too, but mine stopped recording :( Got to fix it! Great machine! Tank-like construction!

I'm looking forward to see this machine in greater detail! I too have this machine, but mine unfortunately doesn't work.
