First Dinosaur Jr song i ever heard...and guess where? Beavis and Butthead! back when i was probably 12..Mad props for introducing me them, really have become a favorite band of mine.
@pianoman930 Read a book maybe?haha like me for example i read about them in Nirvana's book Come As You Are yeah Kurt Cobain was saying something like he thought he was similar to J so ichecked them out and i really fucking like them but looking back on it that was kinda dumb of Kurt to say J and him are not alike haha.
only just discovering dinosaur jr, never got into them when i was younger but i saw a comment about them on a no age video. feeling pretty great about being able to listen to all of these songs for the first time
I love this band now because The singer from the acacia strain had them on his spotify playlist haha, who would of thought the acacia strain would have brought me here
Although I love all Dinosaur Jr. albums and J. Mascis and the fog, "Where you been" is my favorite Dinosaur Jr. album...Every song has heart and feeling and a hell of a lot of soul. Great album...Even better GUITARIST!!!
1992-1993. Junior year of High School. All the lamers listening to Mariah Carey and Metallica, wearing their prep gear and football jerseys. Meanwhile, the "kids behind the bushes" puff-slack-skip-skate. All to Dinosaur Jr. as our theme band. Man do I miss those days. This was always one of my favorites. J is incredible. Love the leads.
The song that made me an instant fan. I love how J. didn't hesitate to shred during that time, he proved that Grunge and knowing how to play work hand in hand together.
Never forgot the gal in the background. The blend of beauty and personality has become a dying species; her kind are as rare as they are precious.
j is the best,we used to do a thing called jabo sunday, which consisted of going to a place on the coast, drinking beer, smoking dope& listening to j mascis. It was around the time of the first J & the fog album & we wore that bitch out.that was a great summer
1000% CLASSIC track by a band so truly important most people don't even know they existed. J Mascis raised me and kept me warm and safe from harm throughout the entire 90's and a good later half of the 80's, and I will always owe him and Dinosaur Jr. a life-long debt. All cool since rock never death.
@bbgankster dino's production is always the perfect kind of sludginess... i love the switch between the jangliness, thick crunch, and fuzz leads, with the overdriven bass peaking through the mix at just the right times... gives me eargasms
love the song, but is there a more clear version out here someplace? sounds a little like one of my tapes after being left out in the sun a couple days! no offense--great song ! sound quality: not so much / :

@MrMentllet I don't know, Beyond, You're Living All Over Me, and Farm are all their best IMO. But I can't say that any of Lou's tracks are my favorites, though his solo and Sebadoh stuff are all great.
@grenenwod id say Big Dipper (also from Mass, USA) is the Big Star of the 80's/90, verrrryy good/underated band (and Big Star influenced their name obviously)
@playtrix83 Nirvana is a great band and so is Dinosaur Jr so saying that they shouldnt be famous and this band should is kind of a insult seeing as how either one of these bands didnt care about fame when all they really care about is the music they made.

@dalmohern I thought you were the person that said pearl jams new shit is better then their old stuff and their new stuff suck. I never said one bad thing about dinosaur jr they are in my top 3 favorite bands
This song is AWESOME! Can someone recommend more Dinosaur Jr. to me? the only other one I've heard that I liked a lot was "Feel The Pain." Thanks in advance : )
@lclarsen Sure .. just go an download or buy their best record, and this is on it and there are so many great songs.. Dino's masterpiece imo .. Where You've Been?
@lclarsen Their best albums by a long shot are You're Living All Over Me and Bug, though they sound a bit different than the 90's stuff like this. Bass is infinitely better on them as well.
So let me get this straight - God is bad and may or may not exist.Dinosaur are good but J is not God and doesn't like the idea OF God but does play several different guitars[all live as dead men dont play any guitars]BUT some not on the stage and only one at a time.Rubber boots are good[?]as are hats that make you look like someone else who plays guitar.
I hope thats right.I have one piece of additional info ; Listening to Dinosaur on an mp3 can be dangerous when cycling in cities
Grandissimi Dinosaur ! che ricordi gli anni '90 .. Where you been è stato uno dei CD che ho maggiormente ascoltato nella mia vita. Credo di averlo consumato.
I think its funny how this gets played in the ''crown patricipation mix'' right after the Bon Jovi song at this Rays bar down here! VH1 went through some quiete contrasting phases...lol
Finally, AND THAT IS WHY J Mascis ASKED ME TO WRITE THIS TO HIS ILLOGICAL FANS: J HATES THE BIBLE AND RELIGION AND THAT IS WHY HE NAMED HIS BAND DINOSAUR JR. HE SAYS FOR ANYONE WHO CRITICIZES WHAT I HAVE WRITTEN to STOP BEING HIS FANS (he said a lot worse stuff too). HE DOESN'T NEED FANS WHO BELIEVE IN MYTHS. I AM BEING TOSSED FROM SITE for rambling about the truth. LOVE TO YOU ALL who are compassionate and to those who read a books by Dawkins or Harrris or watch their videos. Peace.
Radiocarbon dating show the oldest rocks on earth to be 3.9 billion yrs old & shows the earth is 4.55 billion years old. I guess god waited 4 billion years before one-celled creatures finally started to develop into more intelligent creatures? The fossil record through radiocarbon dating tells the real story. You won't ever find mankind in the same rock strata as DINOSAURS.
This is found in the New Testament three times. Believe me, I haven't brought up the hundreds maybe thousands of real horrors and murky morality and bad dogma of the "good book". With Charles Manson you die quickly but with Jesus you slowly burn in hell for an eternity. The Bible is horrible stuff, very creepy, murky morality and bad dogma. EVoluTIon: Did god spend millions of years planting fossils that show one-celled amoebas ruled the world for millions of years.
And why doesn't god do more to stop cancer? God always works in screwed-up mysterious ways. Why doesn't god do his "miracles" and quickly have bibles say slavery is wrong, no one should be killed for working on the Sabbath, no kids stoned to death for talking back to parents? I am not even touching the surface. Notice how vain the first 4 commandments are. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I AM GONG TO WRITE. Jesus' greatest sin: Condemning moral people who don't believe in him to eternal hell.
@MyFamousLastWordsss Yeah because the first and last words of the day & night that most kids hear r god & jesus. And no one I've talked calmly or even more heatedly with has ever changed their mind about god and basically if I talk about the bible, which is not much these days, I just try to make people realize the horrible (bad is not a horrible enough word) dogma and ideas in both the old & new "testacles". The good news is secularism is spreading much faster than christianity in the US.
@benjammin221 Fine but I know you have not read the entire bible (or probably not half) and you do not understand it and what the underlying messages are. Don't worry you are young but also you just know what you are taught to some degree. Sorry to sound patronizing. How many sites do I have to repeat just a small part of the horrors of bad dogma in the Bible as well as the horrible yes horrible ways and acts of god. I will shut-up. Start choppin' on your own.
@benjammin221 Not sure what you mean by it is "clear Catholicism is not the same as Christianity"? Other than the obvious difference my first reaction is that you are quiveling about "not a whole lot" but I am interested if you explain.. thanks.
@MyFamousLastWordsss Right but take it further .. people invented god for comfort and revenge.. good and bad reasons. Not that comfort and security are no selfish too .. just in a much better way. Love My Way, The Psychedelic Furs

@lclarsen Sure .. just go an download or buy their best record, and this is on it and there are so many great songs.. Dino's masterpiece imo .. Where You've Been?

@11xzxzxz thanks!
lclarsen 1 year ago
@lclarsen Anytime. I see you are either new or haven't put up videos yet but look forward if you want to do that. Take care.
11xzxzxz 1 year ago
@lclarsen Their best albums by a long shot are You're Living All Over Me and Bug, though they sound a bit different than the 90's stuff like this. Bass is infinitely better on them as well.
windseer1986 1 year ago
@lclarsen, try their latest album Farm, as good as Bug and Your Living All Over Me. Start with 'Said The People', 'See You' and 'I Want You To Know'.

I hope thats right.I have one piece of additional info ; Listening to Dinosaur on an mp3 can be dangerous when cycling in cities

blobboflava 1 year ago
@blobboflava the music is RAAAAAWWRR like a Dinosaur, thats the only meaning behind the name....at least for me.
PieceofMindmusic 1 year ago
@blobboflava they wanted the name Dinosaur - but some sixties band had the copyrights to that name, hence Dinosaur Jr.

Peace.

Do you still keep in touch with your father, the town preacher?
I just love Dinosaur.I love J.Mascis.I love the live concerts, though it has been may years since I last saw one.
I love the songs.Have done so from even before they became juvenile!
Do you like their music?
Because you could simply state that.....right here!!!!!
No really!
Follow me...slowly.....I...loooovvvveee......and now you fill in the missing name.....

11xzxzxz 1 year ago
This is found in the New Testament three times. Believe me, I haven't brought up the hundreds maybe thousands of real horrors and murky morality and bad dogma of the "good book". With Charles Manson you die quickly but with Jesus you slowly burn in hell for an eternity. The Bible is horrible stuff, very creepy, murky morality and bad dogma. EVoluTIon: Did god spend millions of years planting fossils that show one-celled amoebas ruled the world for millions of years.
11xzxzxz 1 year ago
And why doesn't god do more to stop cancer? God always works in screwed-up mysterious ways. Why doesn't god do his "miracles" and quickly have bibles say slavery is wrong, no one should be killed for working on the Sabbath, no kids stoned to death for talking back to parents? I am not even touching the surface. Notice how vain the first 4 commandments are. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I AM GONG TO WRITE. Jesus' greatest sin: Condemning moral people who don't believe in him to eternal hell.
11xzxzxz 1 year ago
@11xzxzxz thats because there's no god.. maybe there is, but stupid, ignorant people made the bible, not god.
MyFamousLastWordsss 1 year ago
@MyFamousLastWordsss Yeah because the first and last words of the day & night that most kids hear r god & jesus. And no one I've talked calmly or even more heatedly with has ever changed their mind about god and basically if I talk about the bible, which is not much these days, I just try to make people realize the horrible (bad is not a horrible enough word) dogma and ideas in both the old & new "testacles". The good news is secularism is spreading much faster than christianity in the US.
11xzxzxz 1 year ago
@11xzxzxz if anything take the moral lessons that are offered in it. also to make it clear catholicism is not the same as christianity
benjammin221 1 year ago
@benjammin221 Fine but I know you have not read the entire bible (or probably not half) and you do not understand it and what the underlying messages are. Don't worry you are young but also you just know what you are taught to some degree. Sorry to sound patronizing. How many sites do I have to repeat just a small part of the horrors of bad dogma in the Bible as well as the horrible yes horrible ways and acts of god. I will shut-up. Start choppin' on your own.
11xzxzxz 1 year ago
@benjammin221 Not sure what you mean by it is "clear Catholicism is not the same as Christianity"? Other than the obvious difference my first reaction is that you are quiveling about "not a whole lot" but I am interested if you explain.. thanks.
11xzxzxz 1 year ago
@MyFamousLastWordsss Right but take it further .. people invented god for comfort and revenge.. good and bad reasons. Not that comfort and security are no selfish too .. just in a much better way. Love My Way, The Psychedelic Furs
