Just because AIDS wasn't DISCOVERED until the mid-'80s and called such by the medical community...it was actually known to have existed in someone as early as the 1950's or 1960's and unless it was actually known what Charles died of, I find it highly inappropriate and offensive to speculate.
you got issues, you know this , right? no seriously, thats really kinda sick to think like that, why not try to not feed the flames of hate? you say in your post, he was gay wasnt he,? :' so automatically he had aids pnumonia? thats so sad that you would post such a comment.. think about the roots of your ignorance.
You see "hateful" comments where only curiosity exists.
When Anna Nicole Smith died, there was speculation in the news that drugs were the cause, even before autopsy results confirmed it.
Was it "hateful" to dare speculate?
HIV still kills. HIV infection (in America)is higher among gays and IV drug users. Pneumonia is a common HIV related fatal illness. Those are simple facts, leading to curiosity/speculation...Imputing "hate" is a stretch.
Are you joking? Of course he was gay! That's like asking if Ross the intern from The Tonight Show is gay! They both were and are effimate, but who gives a shit! Charles was one of the funniest people on the planet, and I don't care who he was fucking. He made everyone laugh, and was a genuinely talented guy.
You said it! In the past 15 years, I know of no celebrity that has come of age that can match Charles or his peers from that time in class, dignity, and wit.
A Match Game documentary showed Brett Somers saying "There were certain strong personalities on that show and , I don't know, I guess there aren't any around today. I said it. Oops! But there don't seem to be, do they?"
When I saw the 11:58 AM promo for this very same newscast, they didn't mention CNR's name, but as I knew he had pneumonia, I knew exactly that it was him from Ukee Washington's description. Yet it still made my heart sink when Pat Ciarocchi came on with the news (shown here). Maybe that makes me a softy or something else, but I'll miss Chuck.
He was gay, but had the same partner since the mid 80s, so AIDS probably wasn't the case. His partner said that he had been ill for over a year. Face it, pneumonia to any senior citizen can be fatal, depending on the person's already established health record...
He was great on the Ghost and Mrs Muir too......RIP Charles.

I can't believe they overlooked his role as the Center Square!

@philipem01 That's because it wasn't him. The center square on Hollywood Square was Paul Lynde...
