There's a backstory to this. In 1971, ATV (who owned Northern Songs and Paul's songwriting contract) sued Paul for co-crediting Linda, claiming Paul was trying to deprive ATV from royalties due them (which was true). In settlement of the lawsuit, Paul agreed to produce and star in a British TV special for ATV's television network. But, for spite, Paul decided to make this a schmaltzy, put-on goofy TV special. But he did include the first performance of "My Love'...much later in the show!
