This is so funny! You did a great job! I am a Space: 1999 fan! But my favorite season was season 2 with Maya! Plus the effects and electronic sounds were much better that season one. I am a big fan of Star Trek the next generation as it was much better than the original in the 1960's.
This is cool. I always thought Maya from season two a little bit like Spock. Not by just looks. But by her profound interest and possibly love for logic.
Pretty cool. I'll bet if more purist Trek minds had not prevailed, TOS would have been sliced down to 1/2 an hour with a slick intro like this by about the 6th or 7th year of syndication.
Here's an idea. "Bonanza" debuted on September 12, 1959 -- all you'd have to do is find enough clips, including an explosion or two (there must have been some), use only Greene, Landon and Blocker as Roberts left early, put up executive producer David Dortort's name, and then make the date "September 12th 1859" -- because the show was 100 years behind its present day.
I'd love to see a version of this using Star Trek - The Motion Picture as the episode of the week. I always thought that seemed like a 2 hour episode of Space 1999. : )
And just think, good old Freddie Freiberger killed both of them off..........as well as other series. Off hand I cannot think of a series he did NOT kill off.
One slight error: not sure you should have used the '74 ITC logo...sure it's the stuff of nightmares but more the timing, being this was '69. Probably would have used the first one with the "diamond world" instead.
Wow, this is one of those things we actually debated. Here is how we finally came down on it. While the logo is from '74, the show we are parodying is "Space 1999" which was produced in 1974 and shown in 1975, so the logo was proper. IF we are making it as a parody. But you point is valid, and we did discuss it prior to committing to this logo. Thanks for being smart! It's for people like you I do this.
I guess I saw it like this: after Roddenbury was forced to end his show in '69, he is approached by a combo of Gerry Anderson and/or Lew Grade to bringing Star Trek to England and making it via ATV/ITC for a couple more years. Thus, an alternate world where this (instead of UFO) is the big space show of the era, therefore why I thought the older logo. But I get your point too: it's a pardoy thus you keep it as close to Space:1999 with the Star Trek concept.
I totally agree with Treknologist... There aren't enough stars here to rate this video. You just combined the two sci-fi shows I loved the most as a kid and it's just so friggin' cool! Fantastic!

This opening probably would have worked as a "one shot" or April Fool' Day special back when Star Trek was still in syndication on local networks.
