Esto es una maravilla.Una verdadera interpretación.Después de escuchar esto no puedo escuchar mas las otras versiones de las gymnopedies.Me resultan superficiales y formales.La atmósfera que crea este pianista es exquisita y resulta una experiencia espiritual superlativa!!!
Nice tone, but you are miscounting the opening four bars so it sounds like 4/4 instead of 3/4. This happens later when you have only sustained chords in between the melodic sections. The extra pauses before downbeats also add length to your very slow Grave tempo. My teacher told me "Don't enjoy it too much - you might be the only one!" Your piano sounds beautiful and sustains the line beautifully.
Ask your teacher who Reinbert de Leeuw is and about his Satie status. He'll bow deep, very deep.
Let me tell you about my personal experience: I loved Satie, so i practiced a lot and was able to play it myself. Then I heart Reinbert's Satie and i haven't played any Satie ever since. It now feels like failing an exam. Once a month I listen to the CD at my piano and watch the keys.
I have never heard him - so I guess this is who is performing this Gymnopedie. I listened to the Gnossiennes and his slow tempi work really well, but for this it's just too damn slow for me to get interested. This is a dance not a Nocturne. Love his sound and legato line though.
To translate Gymnopédie as "a dance" is your own interpretation (a dance for naked children is a more apt translation from ancient Greek). Please have a look at the note on the sheet music. in English its described as: "slowly", "dolorously" or "gravely". Reinbert understood that pretty well.
