Been on Black Bear Several times, Excellent scenery, I would recommend grabbing something to eat in silverton or ouray first though. Telluride is overpriced and full of self importance.

Brilliant...absolutely brilliant! I still have this album on vinyl somewhere downstairs...picked it up back in the days of CD radidios, Smokey & The Bandit and "Convoy" (which is why I picked up the album to begin with). Still a great song for a smile and the vid is fantastic...thank you!

Reminds me of something that Ray Stevens would sing(ha), well he did sing The Striek in 1974, Guitarzan & a controversial piece of clothing called the Bikini.  Then we had Jim Stafford and his Wildwood Weed, so it shouldn't surprize me that we have Black Bear Road on the map. I do remember CW mcCall for his Convoy...who my age would'nt? Thx4 postin'

BBR is two way from 550 to the top then from the top to the power house at Bridal Vail Falls it is two way again.

Once a year they close it and it is one way up from Telluride to the top. They have lost several people to going off the road.

Check my slide show of driving the Alpine Loop just a few miles away from BBR. CW wrote about these great places in his music.
