Pumps and semi autos make you a less good of shot too become a good shooter shoot over and under or side by side I use mossberg silver reserve 12 ga over and under and love it
@TheAlucard54321 Well that gun seems to be more of a Turkey Gun. It might do OK if you are shooting at a longer distance but might be to tight of a choke if you are hunting over dogs!
I've got a 9 month old Weimaraner that already has a whole quail season under her belt. She started finding birds we knocked down when she was 12 weeks and was starting to point at about 5 months. If u put in the effort into a dog you'll see the benefits!
Great video, wonderful dogs, and one hell of a time you guys had. I am from Waterloo, IA. Just wondering what is the area you filmed this hunt? Is this a private or public hunting ground and how to get there.
your dogs look great! Solid pointing and retrieving. Only thing they aren't doing is being steady on the shot. Getting a dog to sit still until the bird is down is the toughest part... you just better hope you don't miss a bird and have to watch your dog run half a mile down the field, flushing all the birds out of range!
@bartonramsey Having a dog that listens is the key. steadying a dog for wild roosters is foolish. Did you see that Rooster running across that open field? after the shot, the dogs gotta be rite on those birds.
where is this in iowa i hunt in south east iowa right outside of iowa city i actually just came in i only got one today but it's enough for now i guess
Last year the first day of pheasant season. A ringer was running down this graval road and well i was blockingt where he was running to and i shot and made him do a back flip. FUUNY
I wish those birds were about 10 feet higher. No way I'd let a rookie take a shot on a low flier. Excellent example of how dogs should honor each others point. We run GSP's in our family. I hunt mostly alone as my dogs siblings forget to honor points.
My mother and father were both from Manchester, Iowa. Damn proud of it to!
5 stars bud! Fantastic wing shooting, and fantastic dogs. I saw safe hunting with true sportsmen and top notch dogs - that rooster running across the picked field would have never been found without them! Again, great hunt, great video.
Where in Iowa??

the 870 is a great gun for pheasant. Use the Modified choke or even Skeet over dogs. Full choke if the birds are flushing wild. 71/2 shot or 6's.
