They are pop punk. Pop punk is fine if executed properly (and Blink 182 does it excellently), but it isn't punk. A Papa Roach fan can call that Metal, but its still Nu Metal, and no matter how good someone thinks it is (I think its bad, but that's irrelevant) that will be the truth.

Same with pop punk. Blink 182 is a great band. But no amount of excellence will change that the style they play is not punk rock.
