  • Ann Lamott,is a blasphemer ! The bible clearly states, blasphemers will have no part in the kingdom of heaven....She is also a Heritic.

  • @jim3557 Really how is she a blasphemer and a heretic?

  • "I hate interviews, " during an interview lol (awkward)

  • I wish I could turn on the TV and see this kind of program!

  • Anyone who is trying to write should read Bird by Bird.

  • Soooooooooo real! I just love you Ann!

  • And apparently "New Age" is bad?

"Eat, Pray, Love" is hardly a radical book.

And, you're so right—not everyone is equal in God's love. /sarcasm

  • I didn't say anything about being equal in God's love so I don't know what you mean there.

Yes, New Age is very bad if you are claiming to be a Christian. New Age beliefs are totally contrary to anything biblical. The fact she endorsed those books shows a tremendous lack of discernment and/or a syncretism of New Age with Christianity.

God loves everyone but even Jesus talked about eternal death, which is separation from God.

  • Being "New Age" does not equal anti Christian. You need to get out of your tiny little box.

  • New Age is opposite of Christian - you are god, jesus was just a man who realizes his divinity, and everyone is basically good. This is not what Jesus taught; the atonement is about taking the penalty for sins. New Age even denies the concept of sin. I was in the New Age for 20 yrs before becoming a Christian.

  • @CANAMarcia Do you know if the New Agers use the scripture in Acts "behold, the Kingdom of Heaven is within you?" That's one that it seems like would be easy to use to support New Age/ Humanist philosophies. What do you think?

  • @yoshihawv Yes, they do use that a lot. They also apply God's statement in the OT and Jesus' "I AM" in the gospel of John to themselves, saying we are all the "I AM." This is because they believe man is part of God or is God and has a divine nature. There are variations on how this is expresssed but it boils down to a denial of man as creature with a sin nature.

  • Which is why we love her. Have you ever actually read Marianne Williamson? Probably not - she's wonderful too.

  • Yes, I've read her. She's New Age; she does not believe man needs redemption from sin, so the purpose of Christ is not the purpose he stated he came for.

  • @metzlorijo1234 Yes, I have read Williamson. She's a follower of the New Age "A Course in Miracles." I was around whent that came out in the 70s and New Agers were eating it up. Sadly, others got deceived, too. It's a New Age philosophy - man is divine.

  • Anne Lamont speaks volumes(literally) to those of us who "get her".

I especially like hearing about her struggles, her questioning doubts, and her unresolved issues. Sometimes she reminds me of the "Perils of Pauline" the ongoing saga.

  • shes my friends mom!!!!

  • Lucky you! I wish I had the chance to tell her how much her books have helped me embrace Christianity again. The right wing Fundamentalists really turned me off and I felt there was no place for me at the table. Anne Lamott gives Liberal Christians a voice. This is the Christianity I grew up with and thought had disappeared. i wish she had a website so I could e-mail her and tell her all this.

  • shes my grandmas best friend!!!!!!

  • Gosh, her work is wonderful. Thanks for posting this fine interview.

  • Anne Lamott isn't ditzy. If you read her work, what she says makes a lot of sense. She talks about being imperfect, and she is so funny in a depressed sort of way...a little like Eore. She talks about Christian beliefs in a way that I can hear them and I don't listen to many speaking from their pedestals. She is great.

  • Oh, you're right. She is ditzy. She's an incredibly intelligent, passionate, and thoughtful writer who's on stage, giving live, unscripted responses to undisclosed questions. I would love to see you in the same situation and measure your level of gravitas. It's obvious you didn't listen to a word she said.

  • no, anything but.

  • Yeah where did you get "ditzy" from???? Anne Lamott kicks ass!!

  • You're confusing her manner with Diane Keaton. Read any of

Lamott's books to clear this up. The 'Christianity thing' is, imo, something she's struggling with, certainly there's something 'unreal' in what she's selling, some desperation. But she's certainly a great person and a great writer, struggling with something that is awfully appealing, but like everything else, not perfect, as no idea is. It's the lack of acknowledgement of the limits of Christianity, or any idea, that's disturbing.

  • thanks :)

  • Ann Lamott showed me that I am normal, human and accepted by God/Christ.

    I can't think her enough.

    Namaste

  • one of my favorite authors!! just as witty in person, i love her so much!

  • Thanks for this. This is the first time I've been able to hear her speak!

  • Awesome interview! I love Anne!
