After watching crime shows for two weeks straight (cold case files, the investigators, forensic files, etc) I can deduce that the majority of the cases that become cold and the people who solve them aren't the cops, but the forensic scientists who analyze DNA evidence.

Still don't understand though, how they don't do ex-rays on ANY body-of-evidence. Young Steiner's case could have offered his unnecessary death as a given, for far more information with more direction. If done correctly, his autops would have at-least helped, if done by a half decent coroner. Bad autops'. Sad result. It took the HUGE character of Thad, an incredible lad to reach finality on this.

Does anyone remember an episode from the first 2-3 years of Cold Case files where a husband murdered his wife in an Ohio trailer home, the babysitter came home, realized what had happened, went to bed pretending to be naive, husband entered her bedroom ominously, she pretended to be asleep, he spared her life assuming she was too afraid to go to the police. Years later, the police found her in New England and she helped convict him after he committed at least one more murder.
