Of course you make non-army martial arts look like a performance when you show video clips of movies and performances.

Just because people aren't being trained to kill doesn't mean the things taught can't be used in a life or death situation.

I know a lot of martial artists, and all would say that their training is "maximum effect, minimum effort", as well as a discipline in when and how to use their art.

@Rezsha56 Do you know Russian? What does "Spets. Naz." mean? Special Operations. So, they are Spec Ops units... And I said that comparison of Spec Op units with regular army units is not correct. So, comparison of USMC with Special Operation Units is not correct. Don't you agree with that?

Maybe units for special operations inside of USMC is more correct comparison to Spetsnaz.

Marines are Marines, not soldiers, it's a different branch of the military, and in most things spetsnaz and marines have same training so compare one or another is just retarded :)

@juanthequarterback Marines are marines only in the USA. Because they are different branch of Army. Greek marines (Pezonautes) are soldiers. Russian marines "Morpekh" are sailors basically.

Russia has about a dozen of different kinds of SPETSNAZ units. Army Spetsnaz and Police Spetsnaz. Of course any comparison is stupid. But for most in the World SPETSNAZ is like one particular unit.

@BitnikGr thats your wrong. theres a difference between rangers and army infantry. rangers are 100% better. paratroopers are just advanced infantry that drop from the sky. however, the parajumpers are a US airforce special unit that are all combat trained. they go in and rescue downed pilots or trapped troops. also, everytime delta force or the seals go in to do a mission, the rangers are on stand by for rescue. normal infantry dosnt do that.

@15Sebastiannn Like someone already have said above, Marines are Marines. But they are regular units and not special op units. In fact this can be proven and more understandable since Marines have special op units inside their branch.

Marines, just like in many countries (together with paratroopers), are considered as elite units, with harder training than regular infantry. But still, they are regular units and not Spec Ops units.

@BitnikGr the only reason marine regulars (of any nation) train harder then army regulars is that no one wants to see a marine drown because he wasnt strong enough to swim with his equipment. as combat training goes its similar for soldiers and marines with 2 differances. marines train in amphibious, soldiers train with better principles in urban warfare. the physical strength is different training is basicly the same in most areas

Let's say cleaning team enters the room where a terrorist holds hostages. Terrorist sees a monster-soldier with full gear running towards him and understanding that he probably has no time or just can't hurt the soldier, turns his weapon against hostage. Marine, and any...

SPETSNAZ training changes that mentality and make them to cover a hostage even by their body if this is necessary. Risking his own life, but saving the life of civilian. Probably other counter-terrorist teams also has such training. But this is the difference between soldier in regular army, even in elite units, and...

@ushockey08 Spetsnaz is a umbrella term, it does not include only special force's (GRU spetsnaz and KGB spetsnaz) but also Special Purpose Troops/Units like the OB PDSS AKA seal hunters(not GRU's navel spetsnaz), MChS explosive ordinance units to divisional-brigade and company level /army/marines/paratroopers separate reconnaissance/saboteurs detachments (this guys usually have the same bat symbol on their shoulders as GRU spetsnaz units but they are not part of them) and many other units.
