@DaMaxxy you're second point is correct regarding death toll: although of course the amount of dead within the ranks of the Taliban in Afghanistan seems never to get reported - strange eh?Similarly in the 2006 war between Israel and Hizbollah - where did you ever see pictures of destroyed Israeli Merkava tanks other than those on youtube?Who wins the war is far more important than the amount killed doing it: a belief which the USSR took on board when they destroyed 75% of the German army.

@revol148 Mate, I remember those young sailors in that little boat. British forces follow the rules of engagement and would never respond in that situation (not that it was their job to). Personally, I believe that was all done on purpose for political reasons. The Americans have been paying people off in every conflict they've been involved in for years. They did it in Iraq and do it all the time in Afghanistan.

When America fights one of the big boys I'll respect them.

Pfft. Iraq is just a minor conflict. I wouldn't call it a 'war'. Perhaps in the near future we'll see a real war, and then maybe we'll wake up and see that death and killing isn't such a great thing to glorify afterall.

In a real war the media won't have time to turn every casualty into a war 'hero', there will be too many deaths at too fast a rate.

i joined the Royal Marine commando's on my 17th birthday. did my 32 weeks training. Got my green baret before i was 18. done three tours of Afghanistan.
