thanks for clearing that up. For the life of me I don't remember that pier. Isn't it nice to think about those days and the inlet. We never could afford Hackneys but we would walk by, look in the windows at the people eating with their "lobster" bibs.
Do you remember Markowicz's 'fountain' and store at New Hampshire Ave and Grammercy? Have you been to AC recently...the inlet is now built-up...it was a mess when I left in the early 70's.
I remember an ice cream store and the lady's name was Minnie. I did view the Steel Pier video and remember going there to see Frankie Laine and many other stars. I have been back and saw how it is built up but it's not the same.
Did you get a chance to view my other videos? There are postcards from AC and the Steel Pier (I worked on the pier until it's demise!), also other videos of the inlet.
I agree, awesome time, but I can't recall Hackneys being on the water, when we walked on the boardwalk, the restaurant was on the left. We used to rent on Folsom and New Hampshire. Remember the Triangle?

going towards Capt. Starns, Hackneys was on the left. I didn't think it was on water.

My mother worked at Carson's Triangle for years!
And yes, Hackney's was on the left, but it's small 'pier' was over the water.
The 'pilings' that you see in the video use to tie down small cruise ships that would visit Hackneys. Hackneys had seating for 2500 people!

are you sure it's not Captain Starns

Definitely Hackneys! Check out my other videos as I have the Captain Starn's site featured in another video (poor quality)
