@McLarenMercedes A lot of the "Bosnian Muslims" or "Bosnjaks" are mainly Catholic Croats who were captured and converted to Islam during the Ottoman wars starting from the 15th century. The Ottomans Turks continued to convert Christians to Islam right up to the 19th century when they left Bosnia. Of course some Bosnian muslims are from Serbian/ Vlah origins or Turkish roots. In any case the Handschar division fought for Croatia in its historic borders (incl.Bosnia) not really for Nazis etc.
@SS13E3 True Ante Pavelich was initially against the formation of a Waffen SS unit because he saw it as Himmler's interference in the NDH. Pavelich was suspicious of Himmler's intention regarding the NDH. The Handschar Division was also known as the Croatian 1st. Handschar Officers included Roman Catholic Croats and some local Germans. So yes they fought for the NDH, no doubt about it.
yea 240 Catholic Croats in April 1944, and Sauberzweig reorganized them all into one battalion to contain their negative influences. This division had many names, the first two were to designate its overwhelming Bosnian composition and the last one "1st Croatian" was a German re-designation that happened SS wide. Bosnian Muslims dont fight for Croatia, they wanted autonomy, and they werent going to leave in Sept of 44 to fight on Croatian soil, it wasnt their fight.

They saw it as a continuation of the great Austrian tradition (famed BH Regiments of WW1 inspired Himmler) and so this division was to help get Bosnia it's autonomy from the Bosnian's POV.

Tito's amnesty order of Nov 1944, had little effect on 13. SS. This division was destroyed from the side of German leadership when Hampel ordered it to march out of Bosnia, which meant the men could no longer protect their homes from marauding cetniks and partisans. 2 Bosnian officers mutinied and ordered the half of the pull out from Bosnia. The only members of Handschar to even switch to the partisans were members of Feldgendarm Trupp 13 (Croats) Do your research dumbfuck

They were outnumbered 20 to 1 in some cases and still maintained a 5 to 1 kill/wound ratio. Op. Maibaum makes Op Iraqi Freedom look like childs play. 4,000 insurgents killed, 2,000 captured in under 2 months.

The 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar (1st Croatian) was one of the thirty-eight divisions fielded as part of the Waffen-SS during World War II. Its recruits were composed of Muslim Bosniaks and Catholic Croats. The Handschar[1] division was a mountain infantry formation, the equivalent of the German "Gebirgsjäger" (Mountain troops) units. It was used to conduct operations against Yugoslav Partisans in the Independent State of Croatia from February to September 1944.

@McLarenMercedes A lot of the "Bosnian Muslims" or "Bosnjaks" are mainly Catholic Croats who were captured and converted to Islam during the Ottoman wars starting from the 15th century. The Ottomans Turks continued to convert Christians to Islam right up to the 19th century when they left Bosnia. Of course some Bosnian muslims are from Serbian/ Vlah origins or Turkish roots. In any case the Handschar division fought for Croatia in its historic borders (incl.Bosnia) not really for Nazis etc.

@SS13E3 True Ante Pavelich was initially against the formation of a Waffen SS unit because he saw it as Himmler's interference in the NDH. Pavelich was suspicious of Himmler's intention regarding the NDH. The Handschar Division was also known as the Croatian 1st. Handschar Officers included Roman Catholic Croats and some local Germans. So yes they fought for the NDH, no doubt about it.

yea 240 Catholic Croats in April 1944, and Sauberzweig reorganized them all into one battalion to contain their negative influences. This division had many names, the first two were to designate its overwhelming Bosnian composition and the last one "1st Croatian" was a German re-designation that happened SS wide. Bosnian Muslims dont fight for Croatia, they wanted autonomy, and they werent going to leave in Sept of 44 to fight on Croatian soil, it wasnt their fight.

vi ste klali civile, a sjecam se slucaja 1944-te godine kad su partizanci napali jedan cetnicki bataljon untra Handzarske zastitnih linija. Cetnici nisu znali sta je ih udarilo i na kraju su se kukali SS-ovcima, koji su na kraju poslali 13. SS diviziju da unisti te partizane.
Sto se tice cetnicke hrabrosti u licem pravi boraca kao sto su i partizani bili, oni nisu imali ikakve. Svaki cetnicki napad protiv partizana sept 1944-te je propao sa zalosnim rezultatima.

Well, I can understand the Nazi point of View but I don't understand it from the islamic perspective. Let's be honest, nezism is a racist ideology. As far as I know, Islam is against racism. Most mainstream Muslims have dismissed the NOI (Nation of Islam) as heratical because it teaches black supremacy. Its far from the political reasons that they were recruited or the reasons they really fought for.
They saw it as a continuation of the great Austrian tradition (famed BH Regiments of WW1 inspired Himmler) and so this division was to help get Bosnia it's autonomy from the Bosnian's POV.
it failed to bring turkey into the war (they were pussies anyways)
but there werent many radicals within Handschars ranks, thats a misconception on a grand scale.

the SS was protecting cetnik's cowardly asses back in 1944. All cetnik lead assaults that year were failures. Partisans could raid a cetnik HQ in NE Bosnia and the cetniks couldnt even reorganize fast enough to chase them down, so they bitched to the SS.

300 Iron Crosses and 5 Knights Crosses tell a different story.
80 Iron Crosses in April of 1944 alone.

@SS13E3 All they got were five knights crosses. And NOT one of those went to a Muslim. The only good soldiers who were not German were Ferid Džanić, Eduard Matutinović, Božo Jelinek and Nikola Vukelić. Great, great warriors those men! By far the finest warrior of them all, as great as any German soldier in fact was Abdullah Muhasilović. Now there was a man with greatness of soul. Did he get an Iron Cross?

Once again, you have no knowledge of how the SS operated from within. The Knights crosses 90% of the time went to commanders of very succesful units in commemoration of succesful actions, not members of the regiment themselves.
Dzanic and the rest took an oath and mutinied, this mutiny mind you was only platoon strong. It was put down by a Bosnian officer. Dzanic was hung, buried in a shallow grave, dogs later to unearth it and the whole of Villefrance stunk because of him.

Haha da nije Tito izjavio da u Bosni zivi poseban narod Bosnjaci i da nije napravio Bosnu u jugi nebi mi danas imali bosnu.. Tito je bio najboji covjek za Jugu i Bosnu.. Smiri se ti malo ovo je diskucija haha sta se tu jutis. hehe. Za mene su svi ti isti albanci , romi i tartari svje je to isto haha. Bosnjaci su samostalni narod ali nase porijeklo je vecinom slavensko. Kako mozes podrzavati neku ideoogiju sto je kriva za smrt 60 miliona ljudi..

Haha nikad mene nece biti stid da sam musliman. Ja i ti imamo isti cilj samo nam je put do tog cija drukciji. Nije ni Hiter nikog ubio ali kriv je za smrt judi. Mozda jeste ali nikad nam nije bolje bilo nego dok je Tito vladao. Nema veze od koga smo mi dali je to slavena ili ilira. Samo znam da smo mi Bosnjaci, nikakvi albanci, srbi ili hrvati. I grci danas tvrde da su oni ostali od stari grka ali to nije i oni su slaveni.

haha albanci i bosnjani izgledaju veoma slicni (ne gledaj sad askalije koji SEBE nazivaju albancima) a albanci ih mrze isto ako rome ili kao tartare (gorance)cak su ih protjerali zajedno sa srbima...::) ali.. NE MOZES POBITI DNA!
