Sadly, most of the younger generation today won't watch shows like Blake's 7, Survivors and classic Dr Who because they can't see past the bad FX, seventies hairdos, wobbly sets etc. It seems that today style has triumphed over content, more's the pity.
I've often thought it would be good to see them all digitally remastered, but content has always been the preferred choice for me. I just wish all those really good sounding Patrick Troughton Episodes of Dr Who weren't "misplaced."

Any B7 fans out there who haven't seen Firefly might like to check it out... Not related but a pretty good example of parallel evolution, I'd say. Summer Glau's character is somewhat like Calli, Alan Tudyk's character like Vila, etc.
i really did enjoy Blake's Seven when it was first out - but now it looks cheap, tacky and unconvincing - I think we have been spoilt by the advances in special effects over the years - yup great stories , great characters....but like a beaujolais nouveau - you can't expect a low budget sci-fi program to age well...

"This is the best robotic engineering I've ever seen." - Avon. Really Avon? Ah but then you did graduate from The Fischer Price institute of Robotics didn't you. Jenna's acting is really bad. She fluffs her lines (which they seem to always leave in) and she often looks at the camera.
I like the characters (except for Jenna, who to me seems like an empty vessel so that they can have a cute blonde on the show) but some times they make realy dumnass decisions that don't make any sense. wacky things to move the story forward.
still a great show. Totally dated, but the story line was interesting and had depth. Imagine this show with the budget of a hollywood movie... as darth says "impressive, most impressive."
Agreed, the FX often ruin Sci Fi because they are seen as what it's all about. FX, good or bad shouldn't be what a successful piece of writing is all about. Blakes 7 succeeds where others fail - including most of new Dr Who sadly.

I don't think it was underrated at the time it was popular, it wasn't shown in america much and hence lacks the cult status of other sci-fi series.
Downloaded the entire lot and am watching them now. Excellent scripts and characters, but too low a budget.
