Thanks for sharing this recipe! I saw the sushi with jicama rice on a video Dan made of a raw food party. I was planning to wing it, but wouldn't have thought of the marinated mushrooms and ginger. Nice touches. And, so glad you said the jicama doesn't have to be dehydrated; it's so delicious and refreshing raw. Yum.
Wow I absolutely love the creativity and variety of dishes you are presenting, you have a true gift when it comes to food, thank you so much for sharing. Just a quick tip on the sushi, if you want perfectly even cuts for presentation, start by cutting the sushi roll directly in the center, then cut those two pieces directly in the center, then cut those four pieces directly in the center which equals eight even pieces.
thanks dara for your recipes. I thought I would share this enlightening lecture about The Latest in Human Nutrition 2010" Michael Greger, M.D.I just watched.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH DARA for sharing with us ! Please continue your wonderful work. I realize that , wait for your videos, like for a presents, every day <3
I watched this again because I was so impressed and now I'm hungry! lol. I do have a question for you Dara. Let's say someone lives in a colder climate. What are some tips on raw foods for them. I love fall because everything is so comforting and that might be my hardest challenge with all the baked stuff and warming foods. Do you have any advice on that?
@radicalaccounting to grow the juicy sunflower sprouts, you need to use a dish of dirt - it doesn't work with the jar method... There is a vid on Ronnie Skurow's channel I think...
This is the first thing you've made that is something I would like to eat. I love salads, and some juices, but not some vegetables, or nuts more than condiments. For now, baby steps.
I bought organic sunflower seeds and a jar with spout lid to make those giant sunflower spouts I see in stores in CA, could be a salad onto themselves. Now I can't figure out how to make them. Can you teach how please?
Hi Hej Dara! Thanks for the wonderful sushi recipe. Looks great as usual, as all the food you make. What is hicama? I do not think I can find it here in Sweden :-( I'm learning so much from your channel. Thanks for all the joy you spread. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Kram Melanie
I am all about the raw as long as its safe. Studies have revealed that raw Portabella Mushroom along with some other edible mushrooms contain small amounts of carcinogenic hydrazine derivatives, including agaritine and gyromitrin. These should not be eaten raw.
@daradubinet I checked it out, he is right. The recipe is great ( with or without the mushrooms). Go to wikipedia and read the citations. I thanked him for the info.
On another note, that recipe had me dying for a bite.
@MickScarborough Wow! You are right. I read the study from the link on wikipedia! Thanks!
I think this recipe is mouthwatering with or without the portobello.
That study was no joke, and at least for mice, the danger was not apparently overstated. I really don't buy mushrooms because of their lack of nutritional content anyway, but good to know.
Thanks, Dara for the info especially about the hicama... It's great to know it's not necessary to dehydrate. As a raw foodist, I try use my excalibur for certain occasions. Not too much.
@daradubinet Thank you, pine nuts are not cheap at the health food stores... I try to buy in bulk whenever I can. I forgot I pretty much used the last of my jicama on rawmazing's jicama Dill Salad a few days ago, which btw was amazing.:) Looking forward to more of your artistic creations...
Your food is absolutely amazing. I have been raw for about 6 months and you have taught me so much. Could/Would you be able to do videos that encompass a whole group of foods such as like all types of "nut cheese" or "types of simple dressings" Thanks
Thanks so much!! I love Asian cuisine and am having serious cravings for Udon and Ramen.. I'm thinking some zucchini noodles and fresh veggies will be no problem but how do I come up with an amazing broth?
You are such a joy to watch dara... Thanks so much for your generosity and love : )
Another great lesson! Your Saurekraut recipe finally came to its proper fermentation, and I added some caraway seed, and jarred it. It turned out so yummy! Two quarts! I am learning so much from your channel. I'm just about to make some juice, and wing it with making some crackers with pulp, and left-over almond meal from some nut-mik I made. I've made almost half of the recipes you've generously taught and shared with us. This one tomorrow. Thank You Dara. "Raw Godess Chef' !!!!
This looks SO amazing! I was looking forward to making the ninja rolls you and Dan made, but I think I'll have to go all out and make this! The final product is GORGEOUS by the way. Much love, Dara (and Gage).
According to mushroom expert Paul Stamets, eating raw portobello and button mushrooms can cause tumors in the body. This is one food I would suggest cooking.
Dara that looks better than actual sushi hands down! yummmmm. I will have to give this a go one night and see what my family thinks. You are making me start to believe you can make anything out of raw food! :)
This is great, Dara, thank you! I am just getting started with juicing and raw food and I've gotten so many ideas from you that I never would have thought of myself, you are great! :-)

Yes!!! More Dara vids! I have a question. What would you suggest I rehydrate my jicama rice with. I dried it too long. Not all of it dried but most of it did.
