not true, ".He was actually asked to join the Stones after Mick Taylor left and declined. read the most recent Keith Richards interview in Rolling Stone magazine.
Also, another rumored candidate, was Nils Lofgren. Ronnie Wood was the from the beginning, he balked on it staying he would rather continue on with The Faces.(small faces) Then, Wood gave in, and everybody was happy. Nils did call Richards about the gig and was surprised when he answered the phone himself
I can't warp my head around this, the way he sampled it....doesn't at all sound like the original track he sampled. If heard this without knowing that Dilla sampled it for the donuts outro, I wouldn't have known...I've listened to it about 10 times, I still don't get it. Only Dilla!
I posted on another vid how i had the honor of playing on a recording session with Shuggie, what a nice guy and great player...He was actually asked to join the Stones after Mick Taylor left and declined...he also played bass for some Zappa stuff too, hows that for cool!! amazing talent!
Jimi Hendrix Bob Dylan Muddy Waters Bob Marley Chuck Berry, Santana, Los Lonely Boys, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, The Jacksons, Nirvana, La Lupe, Lupe Fiasco, Celia Cruz, The black Kids, No Doubt, Beatles, The Wings, TONS more. I listen to about every genre. Keeps my mind open and me inspired. I keep finding all this good new/older stuff.

This is an amazingly funky tune! I love it and to think he's actually playing all the instruments except for the horns and strings!
