I'm Robin Homden the creator of the Fort Warden Heights Website. I woukld love to hear from you about your memories of the Fort Warden Holiday Camp. My e mail address is robinhomden1@aol.com
cont- The fort is haunted by an old Sergeant who has been seen by workers and campers, we found hidden rooms while exploring after work, as when it was converted into a holiday camp, the chalets inside the fort walls were built ontop of the gun emplacements, very interesting place,it closed in 1991 as it was "only" making £250,000 profit a year, other Warner sites were making over a million!
I used to work here, the chalets were called Solent view, yes that is a kids climbing frame, before health and safety,, plenty of pill boxes around, you have misssed the best parts tho,,We used to meet several old soldiers who were stationed here, and now on holiday, many of them said about the tunnel going from Fort warden to the lookout post on colwell beach, we always had a large square patch of dead grass in the old parade ground, which is where they said it was, alos underground dungeons,
