I would assume since Perry wrote most of these songs (or was part writer) he is makin a paycheck. Stay with me now because I am a huge Perry fan. Journey parted ways with perry and this is the way it is. Arnel is humble and he carries the torch.

i like the present singer who is arnel pineda. he has his own originality too. each singer has their own ability.

Gregg Rolie the original lead vocals left the band in 1980's.

Gregg Rolie may have been the original lead singer but he was not a big part of the Journey success story. They never had a hit with him as the lead singer and once Steve Perry came along in 77 Rolie only sang backup and left the group in 80. I don't mean to dis Gregg Rolie and he is a major talent but he just wasn't right for Journey. Anytime you want to hear just how good he really is though just listen to Santana's Black Magic Woman cause that's Gregg Rolie singing lead right there.
