I was letting my hair grow out,but i really like this cute bob,so I'm gonna get it cut today. I do hair now myself,so I'm gonna get a friend at the Salon to do it for me.Too bad i'm not in the Us anymore.I'd get u to do it. :( Youre great!
@MyBellaColorStudio I just wanted to know if my hair would look good with this type or hairstyle... I have a roundish shape face but I'm so used to having long hair but I feel like I need something different. Do you think that this hairstyle would compliment my face?
@ROCKYx89x Thank you for asking. I used 2N+ 3N (to blend well with her natural color), and Level 5Copper Gold with Level 6N, then Powder Bleach and 15 vol ( only 15 vol due to a longer processing time due to also covering gray with the two color formulas used).ALL colors and highlights placed into foils. :-) Starting at the nape and working up. But NOT in the traditional brick layer pattern. Colors placed to FLOW with the hair shape and natural growth patterns. :-)
I love the way you cut hair! It's quite simular to the way I cut. It's like you've gathered all the basic skill and used them all in ways that are not common, as myself, to create your own signautre cut. I'm a male hairstylest and cutting hair is what excites me most. I'm also really good with weaves, which has also help to sharpen my skills with cutting and doing all types of tricks with the scissors. In cosmo skool my teacher would always have me check her cuts/work, isnt that something? Lol!
@hallsbstn That's great! YES! Custom work is where the ARTISTRY SHOWS! However, knowing basic skills is what gives us our "palette". Thank you for writing! It always gives me great joy when other Stylists can relate naturally to the ARTistry shown in my videos. You made my day! :-)
I really love your style. I am licensed in SC and I'm really trying to improve my cutting technique. Thank you so much for this video!! You make it look so easy.
@Jazz1myn That is great! So happy you are enjoying my hair videos! It's always my goal to add more as I am able. The good news is that I am very, very bust at my Salon... But, I absolutely love to help other Licensed Cosmetologists learn MORE! ...I've been doing hair since 1985! This year has marked over 25 years! So, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! ALWAYS LEARN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! And NEVER, EVER GIVE UP! And, remember, FIRST AND FOREMOST WE ARE ARTISTS! Create abundantly! :-)
@macarthur261 Thank you! It IS a perfect shape for an older woman who wants Style in her Hair without looking like she is trying too hard. :-) And the maintenance of both the color and cut is not difficult to maintain. Thank you for commenting!! :-)
@MyBellaColorStudio Can you please tell me what is the name exactly of this haircut? It's SO much MORE than just a "bob". Elegant and sophticated. What would I tell my stylist? Ya'll aren't in Texas are you, LOL?? I hate to bother you, but why is it one stylist can do a perfect bob, yet another one will screw up your hair so bad, you think of throwing yourself in front of a car, failing that, you want to throw the stylist? LOL.
Model...beautiful. Artist...GENIUS!!!! You make me want to go back to school and learn to do what you do! Next time I can afford a vacation I'm booking an appointment with you for a new me!!!
@Jennygray2005 Thank you so much! I'm always so happy when I read wonderful comments like yours! Feel free to come to Burbank CA anytime! We, at the My Bella Color Studio, have fun weekly! Creating new custom cuts and colors to fit each Client! So happy you commented. Thank you again!! :-)
@zoejuliana Awesome! This layered bob was fun to create and works extremely well with her natural hair texture and growth patterns. Happy my hair videos are helping you enhance your skills. :-)
@Tiffany3455 Thank you! It is my goal to help educate newly Licensed Stylists as well as show techniques to those expanding their skills. Happy you are here, and very happy to help. :-)
@CrysnMakeup So happy I have inspired you with this custom hair cut video. Please take a moment and read the comments I have just written in response to others here. There is much to learn... but the MOST FUN is being able to take the theory (knowing it well) and to make it your own CREATIVELY! Have fun!!
@allenwalker1123 I dunno either. :-) lol... I've definitely crossed the line from technically trained to custom. As you learn techniques you will use them, and as you use them they will become your own, and once they are your own your custom hair cuts will not only have a look and a feel that is yours (on their hair), but you will have the freedom to create as you desire. Take the theory and FLY with it!! :-) Thank you for commenting. Happy you are here. :-)
@dontforgetimtheshit Thank you! When I design a custom hair cut for a Client, I always take the natural texture, growth patterns and daily styling routine into account. The detailing of this Layered Angled Bob hair cut fall directly into place with the natural movement of her hair. Details are like dotting your "i's". :-) I love it too!
@Chirsty76 Thank you for the wonderful comment! So happy you and your Mom have found my hair cutting videos. ENJOY! I'll upload additional hair videos as I am able. :-)
@shorthairissexy Most definitely! More women should wear their hair shorter! I so wish I could just line them up and give them all great short CUSTOM hair cuts!! :-)
@MyBellaColorStudio some bassackwards hick posted something in the comments seciton on one of my uploads claiming it made one lady frumpy!
short hair is anything , but frumpy. check out some of the cool chicks on tv shows like warehouse 13 such as the character of Claudia Donovan who sports a Bob style and yes I am looking forward to seeing you do a long to short makeover to help dispel the idea of short hair being anything but hip.
@shorthairissexy I've seen a great short hair cut look kinda frumpy if the model isn't used to it yet. Sometimes I have to allow the Model to look at herself for a good 15 minutes afterward. She'll go from shocked, to... "What have I done?!" to "I DID IT!" to... "I love it!" and flying away with that is any form of frump!! :-) Short hair rocks when it is done well! I so want a long hair model who is ready to go short!! :-) I've just posted again on the My Bella Color Studio facebook page. :-)
@MyBellaColorStudio Thank you! It's taken years of experience to get to be "great" at what I do. I'm always learning, always trying new things. Artistically, it is a joy to present my custom work here on youtube. Happy you appreciate it. :-) Thanks for commenting. You made me smile. :-)
Sharon you are simply AMAZING! Please continue to make videos...color and cutting please...When I razor and texturize I seem to get choppier results and your looks are always so soft and sexy with so much movement
@bigdawg656 Thank you for your wonderful comment. I will do my best to get more videos. One thing to always consider when you are using the razor to "texturize" you must understand HOW that razor is going to cut... and whether or not that cut will fit into the overall workability of the hair cut (and existing texture) you are designing/working with. Razors rock ... and so do Scissors. Choose wisely. Experiment on different types of hair... and see what works best for you.
@Frico1964 Thank you so much! Hope you are doing great! I had taken some time off for the holiday hair season at the Studio and am now getting back in gear for more videoing and editing. Put it this way... I bought tons of tape. Then I realized I should put cameras all over the Studio. Now, that would be fun! For now, more videos coming sooooon. Smiles at you. :-)
i don't think that an 8min haircut can give you a good result..as you can see the stylist had to move the hair around quite a bit to give the illusion of a good haicut. The hair was too long in some areas.
8 min after editing 20 minutes of cutting. Good editing I'd say, as not one cut was excluded. But repetitive combing was. But, I do believe that if a cut was planned well enough, that an excellent cut could be done in 8 minutes.
And, the movement.... absolutely.Any angled cut must allow for the hair to naturally fall into that direction from the scalp out. Therefore, the growth patterns must be used within the cut. So, yes, I had to 100% allow the hair to move into it's natural growth patterns. thus, the tapping and flickering motions of the hair. The taste in extra length may be more yours than the Model's. Remember, I left the length she asked to be left. Which makes for an extremely happy client. ;-)
I agree. The finished look was nice but no structure to the shape. We freehand texture every cut when dried to personalise each haircut but follow strict guidelines and sectioning techniques to create the basic shape. I believe this gives more balance
Did you meet me in Italy when I did the Hair Show in Florence? :-) I loved it! I'd go back in a heart beat! ;-) Thank you for your wonderful comment. :-)
can i call u master in hair ??? i learned a lot from your vid. Just cant stop watching them any everyday im looking forward for your new video clip. Your scissor are they from Kamisori ??? cuz they cut the hair so well....
Yes, you can call me Master in hair. :-) After 25 years I figure I at least have a Doctorate. :-) I'm so happy you are learning from my videos. I'll upload more as I am able. And.. the shears are Yasaka 5". :-)
I would love to be there too. But, shyly enough, I stand behind my hair chair weekly... booked. yet, if you want me to go there... then find me a way. :-) Or, you can come to LA. :-) In any event, thank you so much for your sweet acknowledgment of my work. I love what I do, and it would be wonderful to travel and do it as well. Enjoy the show! And do let me know how your new hair cut turns out! ;-)
Thank you Kindly, :-) I felt that one coming... I had taken my video camera to the Studio that morning... and when she said I could do whatever I wanted... Man oh Man did she and I have some fun! She looked beautiful with it and was as radiant as can be. So, that my dear is a successful hair cut. One that she won't have to use a round brush with. Imagine that. :-) I've got more to video and more to edit. I feel inspired once again. And that is good news to all. :-) Happy Day to you Sir.
Thank you Miss D! I caught this video while working last Saturday. Within my crazy day... I grabbed the video of the cut in three takes. Which left me inspired to get this cut up on youtube. Now, I want more "3 take" videos... ah, the ease of editing when the footage is so clean. :-)
Thank you. Her hair texture lifted right up with blow drying the root area into the desired shape. Slight to no round brush needed on the ends. It's really going to be a wonderful cut for this model. I can't wait to hear how easy it is for her to style. :-)
I love that this bob is cute and trendy but still has the fullness and volume! I've been hearing that from my clients alot lately that have the classic "posh" inverted bob. They like the style but desire fullness again. Thanks again for showing this cut!
Thank you. The volume appeared as I blew her root area dry in the direction of the flow of the shape I put into her hair. Since it followed her natural growth patterns, this cut is going to be a breeze for the model to style. It's good to see volume returning. I find few women who actually look great with flat hair stuck to their head. Therefore, it's up to us to create awesome haircuts that also deliver beautiful volume.
Hi there. I smile as I read this because I do not go by "terms or names" of different angles/dimensions when I cut. I don't even think of the "degree of lift" as I am taking the section. Primarily I design from the visual of the desired end result, take growth pattern and hair texture into account, and I shape the hair cut based on these aspects The top is actually cut a bit off center and layers angled longer toward her left. All angles where taken to create volume. And the bottom point cut.
*chuckle* i see. thats becasue you are an expert..i still see in terms becasue i am still on student level. when ever i didnt plan a cut out..i could never remebr how to duplicate it. so i got into the habit of using terms on each section..and noting what degree i hold the hair before cutting.
This shape can work on any hair type, but the end result will look different on coarse curly hair unless the hair is blown dry smooth. As with any hair shaping, when designing a custom cut for the Client, the natural texture, natural growth patterns, plus the Styling ability and desired routine of the Client all must be taken into account. This, to me, is the recipe of a successful hair cut because the new shape will be customized for easy, yet wonderful, results.
@MyBellaColorStudio Love your videos!! Just graduated from school and have learned so much about the latest techniques from you. It's made me more relaxed with my cutting, more happy clients at the school, now out in the real world!

Thank you. The volume appeared as I blew her root area dry in the direction of the flow of the shape I put into her hair. Since it followed her natural growth patterns, this cut is going to be a breeze for the model to style. It's good to see volume returning. I find few women who actually look great with flat hair stuck to their head. Therefore, it's up to us to create awesome haircuts that also deliver beautiful volume.

how would you classify that cut? uniform top, graduated middle, planar on bottom?
i see its a bit rounded on top..but i also see the line of inclination from the graduation.

I love that look, but what if the hair is course+curly?

This shape can work on any hair type, but the end result will look different on coarse curly hair unless the hair is blown dry smooth. As with any hair shaping, when designing a custom cut for the Client, the natural texture, natural growth patterns, plus the Styling ability and desired routine of the Client all must be taken into account. This, to me, is the recipe of a successful hair cut because the new shape will be customized for easy, yet wonderful, results.
