This is a better clip of this engine running on 100% Biodiesel fuel. Actually, 98% as 2% of the fuel mix was Amsoil cetane booster. Still, we have virtually a one component fuel. That is, no additional oil was added for lubrication. The only lubrication in the run was provided by the fuel itself.
If I were you, I would use a crankcase-pulse fuel pump -and- the exhaust pressure tube, maybe even use a smaller muffler outlet for more backpressure. Then just lean out the needles, that way you don't have too much lubricating oil causing drag and muffler-goo/smoke. The perfect diesel run could be had by using heated fuel vapor instead of liquid fuel. :)
These are all good ideas. Yes, better atomization is needed by the looks of things. I've been out of action for the last two years but I hope to get back to work this summer.
One way to pre-heat the fuel would be to install tubing inside the muffler that the fuel lines are hooked up to.
Or, make a "water jacket" but run the fuel through that instead of water.
ams? whats that

Or both strategies might be needed.
We'll see.
