I guess it does Ian! Only recently found out that the song was a Brinsley Schwartz song. Only got a few BS songs on a compilation. What LP's would you recommend from the BS repertoire?
@loonyat11 He does, but I think the power of the original drum riffs and arrangement should be followed more. I guess its hard to match the backing vocals which are just superb on the single. I think the musical director of the Nick Lowe band needs to pull his finger out and notate some wonderful stuff to tighten things up. I do prefer the solo version live.
As the co-writer of this ditty, does that make me a master songwriter too?!!

@marmst1 Cruel To Be Kind wasn't recorded by the Brinsleys as far as I recall. You might be thinking of "What's so Funny About Peace?"

@iangomm Only an apprentice, I'm afraid. However, didn't you write "I LIke You, I Don't Love You"? In that case go to the head of the class!!!

i agree about Nick's voice - it's even more out front and confident than years ago - absolutely terrific.

Most artists' voice suffers with the years... here's the exception. To my ear he sounds better now than he ever did.
