I guess these scholars think a few swords would deter a hostile power. As a mater of histrory that's not the way it works

The fact that they Meso Americans worked in metal is not in question, these men are answering a question not asked...
It is not that they had a word for metal, but did they have the metals and technology claimed in bom.
Brass - yes the they worked in copper but no Tin(ancient brass) and no Zinc (modern as in the kinderhook plates)
Iron- yes some meteoric iron is found in but no tools nor mines, one does not make swords out of meteoric iron
Steel - no Iron it's hard to make steel
