@EndangeredThoughts The reason why is because you get this very unique look with the XL-H1, its a look thats kinda hard to achieve with the 5D. Plus there's draw backs to dlsr as aliasing/moire and some color fringing effects. With the xl-h1 you get more latitude, dslr's are great for curtain stuff but not for some stuff. Heres a test i found with the xl-h1 that im trying to get my point across watch?v=HvnGlt-ja54

If you have a decent camera (I just have a consumer Hitachi 1080p camera) use proper lighting to get the best quality video out of it - then experiment with colour correction. Pay attention to the colour in some movies, a lot of the times it will be very blue or green. Sometimes this can even represent temperature in a room (or if it was a shot in a fridge it could be cooler). Also look into compositions rules, such as the rule of thirds. Instantly improves your work.

P.S i heard somewhere that cannon 550 d can record only 12 minutes of video is that true :)

@thodorisgiannakopoul The 550D has a 12 min clip time limit but its actually down to the file size limit 4GB as the file system is FAT32. Dont let that stop you, most movies are filmed in 7-8 min segments anyway then edited later. For the price wou can't beat a DSLR for video, not with out their challenges though.

@thodorisgiannakopoul the canon 550d is a good camera both video and photo, but its all gonna come down to the lense, lighting, among other things. your gonna need a prime lense preferably for better quality videos.

about the recording time, it all depends on the memory card not the camera so its not true
