I love the ideas that you showed here, but what I REALLY want to know is what kind of sewing machine is Jeanie #2 using? I would wager a guess that it has features that make doing the kaleidoscopes much easier than many other machines.
@grandmacurrie, I believe the machine is a Bernina 830. The main feature that makes this machine great for working on kaleidoscopes is the large throat area, meaning you can quilt blocks up to 10 inches if you have a Jumbo Hoop.
That said, you can print your kaleidoscopes any size from the Kaleidoscope Kreator software, so you can print them to fit any size hoop. And the quilting motifs that Jeanne #2 used to embellish/quilt the kaleidoscopes are easy to find on the internet (and resized.)
