Yes, carbon dating is based on radioactive decay, so you have to know how much carbon 14 was in the atmosphere and in the animal when it died, you assume both of those are the same, so nephilimfree makes a great point.

Suffice to say that every potential problem associated with radiometric dating is well understood and easily controlled for. Crazy Neph, is insane and has been crushed in debate by almost everyone he encounters. If you are genuinely interested in the scientific case I recommend reading some of the evidence instead of creationist propaganda.

I went to that website for evolution on conservapedia that NephilimFree spoke so highly of and was astounded at how trite the arguments were. This highly acclaimed piece of web scholarship was just a collection of worn out creationist claims condensed into one long tedious article. I scrolled a little more than half way down and finally lost interest when I saw pictures of Hitler & Stalin with references to Ben Stein and "Expelled". IIRC, Wiki lists about 20K human proteins.

The % identical is about 71%, not 80%.

"Not identical" doesn't mean "completely different."

Yeah, that's very likely with Nephilim, that he didn't understand something he read. He demonstrates that whenever he's forced to bring up a specific reference. Genes can code for more than one protein (they get spliced together differently), but it's interesting that he'd choose to pick proteins as a comparison, when gene-wise, we have only a very few (about 100 out of 25,000 or so genes) unique to us alone.
