I don't understand why she's so popular. I honestly don't believe she can dance at all. There's no pleasure in it, no happiness, no excitement, no 'she makes me wanna get up and dance' feeling, no inspiration whatsoever.
Dina doesn't have the isolation thing down at all, and there's hardly any movement if you don't count her feet and arms. Bellydancing focuses on working the core of your body. She doesn't show hardly any movement between her knees and shoulders.
Belly dancing may be about feeling, but there has to be some measure of skill thrown in as well. I'm not saying she's not talented, but she needs some serious practice.
@xkitfoxx see has thousands of movements in her hips. You just need to be really proffesional about Egyptian belly dance to understand what make Dina so great.Try to do just 4 of her steps including exactly her hip and body movement and look so nice the same time :-) Nobody...Only Dina!
but her dance is about feeling....i didnt like her too but i started loving her when i understood what is belly dance about....sorry, but drum solo by sadie is like by a robot...what do u think?
oh, so this means people who don't like this bellydancer have no right to express their opinion? or is the "delete" thing just for really ofensive and discriminating comments?
Well, i have seen belly dancers who are MUCH better than her. honestly, i think she dances like an amator. i have a friend who started taking lessons about a year ago and she's a better dancer. Dina isnt very flexible, and her movements are boring and repetitive. Not graceful at all. sadie is better, and so many others.
but her dance is about feeling....i didnt like her too but i started loving her when i understood what is belly dance about....sorry, but drum solo by sadie is like by a robot...what do u think?
Just because her style isn't to your taste does not mean she hasn't got talent. Her flexibility is not an issue - her style of dancing simply doesn't go into the full range of her flexibility. In this particular style, that would be considered vulgar and overkill. Learn about dance before you start comparing first year students to icons who have been dancing for decades. Her style isn't to my taste either, but to call her a bad dancer is offensively ignorant.
to enjoy dance i dont have to be an expert. entertainers perform to an audience who doesnt know every single thing about it, but still give an opinion about them being a good or bad performer. the fact that she dances for decades doesn't make her better than a first year. you dont know who i'm talking about and how well she dances and if its even comparable.
and if i don't see her being flexible, then for me, she isnt flexible. if you say it's because of the style, fine: i think this
it's because of the style, fine: i think this particular style of bellydance is repetitive and not very graceful, and i've seen other styles of bellydance that i liked a lot more.
and offensive is not saying i've seen better dancers than her, is calling someone ignorant.
It is ignorant to call someone a bad dancer because you don't like the dance form. That's like saying The Nutcracker is a terrible Flamenco performance. It is offensive to compare a first year student to Dina *because* they're not comparable. A performer can't please those who don't like the type of art she's performing, no matter how good an entertainer she is. It's really very silly to cry victim simply because I pointed that out. And you most certainly are ignorant to her art form.
well, i enjoy bellydance a lot, so it's not that i don't like the dance. i don't like her bellydancing, which is a lot diferent from saying that her dance isn't good because it's not hiphop. nothing in her dance is appealing to me. i like the type of art she's performing, in case you haven't noticed, i'm just saying i don't like HER, although i like OTHER bellydancers, so she as a performer of a dance i enjoy doesn't please me, ok?
and i may not be an expert on belly dance, but i'm certainly not ignorant on it and as far as i know you may not know as much as you claim.
oh, and putting "*" before the "because" is not really an argument. if you want to discuss something, try presenting your reasons instead of calling people names.
My question is this, if you don't like a bellydancer why say anything at all? Move on to those you like and leave those who dont alone. No need to be a bully, unless your really filled with that much hatred, and if that's the case, i feel sorry for you, and hope that youtube helps you with some of that pent up anger.
well, and why shouldnt i comment? comments aren't just to say the video was good or to complement whats in it, its to express opinions about it, and i expressed mine. I dont see how i'm a bully, i dont think i said anything offensive, or hurtful to people (cause that was certainly not the intention) and i dont understand why you say that i'm full of anger. i just feel sorry that you saw hatred in a comment that the only thing about it was that it was different from these in this comment section
bellybunny I am so glad that you will delete hateful comments. It is bad enough reading bad comments about the dancer, then some have to make it a political thing or even worse, hate against anothers culture. Greetings from Delaware
I love Dina, she is a wonderful dancer. Are there any good examples of lebanese and other styles of oriental dance that are true to form (not showing off) so that I can compare them? I respect all styles, but I prefer Egyptian for the grace and subtlety. Any suggestions?
they elaborate more on the general choreography and the beauty element.
they do more deep backward bending and floorwork.
they are generally very beautiful and extravagant and are more appreciated by non-arabs because they are more accessible in interpretation and more direct in their approach.
the music consists of a song followed by tabla solo. there is more musical variation within the same show.
they elaborate more on small body moves and on the sensual part of the dance.
they do more deep forward bending like that typical dina trademark move.
they are less extravagant and are more appreciated by the connaisseurs and arabs in general because of the subtelty of the energy spent. and the strong traditional approach.
the music is usually consistant throughout the dance.

lebanese:
they move their hips in more left/right moves.
they elaborate more on the general choreography and the beauty element.
they do more deep backward bending and floorwork.
they are generally very beautiful and extravagant and are more appreciated by non-arabs because they are more accessible in interpretation and more direct in their approach.
the music consists of a song followed by tabla solo. there is more musical variation within the same show.
