If you listened to the whole thing he states that the CIA lobbied the gov to enact laws which would enable people like him to be arrested. And I guess they succeeded: we have the patriot act etc and just look at what happened to Bradley Manning.

However, there are really relatively few of them shooting at us over god. It has much more to do with political climates. The idea of the "Jihad" was a simplistic and agreeable propaganda module.

I'm not disagreeing with your view of Islam. Though, just like any religion, there are going to be those who pervert it. I am referring to the reason we are at war right now.
