@528jkl - you sound like a REAL 'responsible and considerate' driver? We have a job to do as well you know - our priorities are; 1) yours, and other road users safety; 2) keep the load moving/keep congestion to a minimum (some is inevitable).
Abnormal Loads legislation also covers Abnormal Vehicles (ie self-propelled) but all kinds of problems come with actually driving such a vehicle on the public highway - it would still need escorting and, not being designed for road use, would move at no more than around 20-25mph causing massive congestion - especially on a motorway. Visibility from the cab is not designed for negotiating public roads either and could cause injury. Loaded on a low-loader is much safer/better all round.
Great job guys! Nice to see some good truckers vids on here instead of the normal wheel holders like Sean Suth. lol! Sure put you close to those tanks to unload. Or it looked that way.
i drive some 775d and some komatsus the same zise. 775 have a BIG v12 quad turbo. cool. im from sweden an i did see one scania and some volvos in this video, where was this? i didnt recognise the nr. plates.nice vid!
Thought i recognised the area. Worked for Walters for over a year on most of their sites but never saw a 777 being delivered. Can remember the day when the wheels would have to come off to get ground clearence for them and you'd still have a guy on the skip of the cat with a pole, moving the power lines out of the way! Any idea what happened to the huge walking dragline they had at an opencast in the Amman valey in the 80's/90's?? Would be interesting to see how they shifted that!
I have drove 777s up and down some steep as hills loaded and unloaded , It is a boring job for the most part unless you got a radio, But every now and then it can get very interesting ; )
Not a big truck guys. 797 Cat's in Fort McMurray Canada make this truck look miniature. Or check out the Terex Titan on Youtube. It's in Sparwood , British Columbia, Canada. Biggest on earth.
I operate a P&H 4100 shovel and we have 793 Cat trux. Three passes and we're talkin 240 plus tonnage. Cat makes good stuff. As long as the drivers have got their stuff together it's a good way to make a living.
Nice video. That thing is massive! We do small things around my little town. But if we had 1 of those. Alot of jobs would go from 10 day hauling to 1-2 days. Wow...
We shipped 8 793's out on the ice road from the Ekati Diamond mine in the NWT last winter.
Stripped of the boxes, cab, rear wheel groups, front wheels and suspensions, hoist cylinders, and a few other odds and ends they still weighed 105,000 lbs.
And the fifth wheel hitch broke on one trailer and they dumped it on its side.
I'm not sure about the 777C, but the 777D 3508 V8 puts out 1000 hp at 1750 rpm.
They have a 7 speed transmission with a lock up torque.
The whining noise before it starts is the self test of the emergency steering electric motor driven hydraulic pump.
The pump starts automatically if the engine driven pump loses flow for whatever reason.
The newer D models use an electric pump to pre lube the engine before it starts.
On them you get the steering system self test, then the prelube pump running for 30 seconds or until it senses 5 psi oil pressure, then the engine starts.
The have either two 24 volt starters or one air starter.
Nice to see a volvo and a Scania working together (:-} I've also got a V70 (R reg) and I think you will agree with me that they are one of the best cars on the market.
there are three reasons why it could be dirty...One, it's used equipment going to another customer, two, it's a rental (very unlikely but still), and three, it is being transferred to another one of the companies sites.
i work on CAT and that is how those trucks start. It's like preheating or something similar. It's not because there is something wrong with the machine.
The distance is variable in that the trailer can be 'jacked up' on its hydraulics to increase ground clearance - handy for getting out of sites where the ground surface is rough or where there is a risk of grounding (sharp changes in level where the trailer may touch)
Vehicles such as this don't meet C&U (Coonstruction& Use) Regs but can sometimes be driven on the road as long as they are escorted (Abnormal Loads/Abnormal Vehicles) and have Special Movement Orders.
why wasnt the truck just brokin down and it would have been far easier to carry.plus is it not against the law to drive a vehicle that weighs so much on public roads,it will destroy the road surface
thats the way that firms carry abnormal loads from one place to another on this low loader .. they could have broken it down but it would have taken days to erect it back up so they do it like this ....... yes of course it is not legal to drive it on the road thats why its on the back of a truck that does have a licence to drive on roads right roadpilots?
Thats about right - the term 'Abnormal Load' should actually read 'Abnormal Indivisible Load' which means "a load that cannot without undue expense or risk of damage be divided into two or more loads for the purpose of being carried on a road..." You can also have an 'Abnormal Vehicle' - "one that cannot meet normal vehicle standards"; this may be able to drive on the highway but would still need to be escorted/require a movement order.
cant really say for certain it would greatly depend on axle ratios and gradeability of routes but on a straight king pin pull i should think it would easily manage 300/325 tons.GAH1950
you are the escort but you have no legal powers to stop traffic...only the police have the power to stop traffic so therefor traffic does not by law have to take any instruction from you...correct...

@butlerproman It is one of three things:
The 777 is too heavy for the road (hence the trailer with a zillion wheels) or
It is too slow,
Or it would eat up valuable tires.
Probably a mix of the three.

Couldn't this truck simply been driven to the site under it's own power? With the escorts ofcourse.
briguy1130 2 years ago
the truck can't be driven to the site on his own couse of the axle load limit.
The big truck just got 2 axles and all the weight is concentrated on them.
Carriing this thing on the lowboy will result in spreading the axle load on all wheels and it will be reducet.
Otherwhise, bridges and so on would break...
