This song by Sujatha is really haunting . "Parasathul Mal" has always lingered in my mind from the time I saw it. This song is so soothing and shows Sujata's versatility. Lionel Algama composed one of my favorites " Me Bawayade Mulu Diya Dahare" by Narada Disasekara. He also composed the music for Nanda Malini's "Mulu Nuwarama nidigath wele oba pamanai" If I recollect correctly, he was the music director for "Preadeepe Ma Wewa" which where Vijaya,Malini,Sonia and Baptist acted.

If I am not mistaken, Lionel Algama composed music for the famous Dayananda Gunawardena  drama "Naribena", which included songs 'Kumatada sobaniye' & 'Ahela gahe mal pipila'.

Hi Pooji,

The movie 'Parasathumal' was in fact available on DVD as I remember a few years ago in Lanka.

The film was also shown a few times on the state television. Anula K was great and not to be seconded by Punya H.

Thanks for uploading this classic song which was very popular, beautiful sad solo from Lionel Algama and Sujatha Attanayake with blending lyrics. Gamini Fonseka directed this film when he was young. Also famous musician Shelton Perera too acted in the movie playing tabla while gamini was singing.

I also have the film in Sri Lanka and if my memory serves me well the scene had nona(Anula) with the infant from hamu(Gamini).

I also like the song 'Sandakath Diya' sung by Maestro Amaradeva. Very mellow too.

This entire movie 'Parasathu Mal' tells us the story of most of the wealthy old people and what they did in Sri Lanka. This particular one was based on one such person too apparently in the 1960s which I cannot remember now.
