  • thanks good knot im getting into fly fishing now and does anyone know if i can use a uni knot for tieing my flies to my tippet cus i can do that knot in 2 seconds and have been using it for a long time

  • it works great with braided line too!

  • i use that knot when my hands are cold or when i get frustrated because it is easy, i had no idea it was better than the fisherman's knot.

  • I started using it on trout thinking it was a nice little knot. Then, in Montana, we used it on some berzerk Bighorn River trout up to 23 inches and it held up great!

Back in Minnesota, we were fishing walleyes a couple years later and my brother told me that this is the only knot he uses. I tied jigs, plugs, spinnerbaits - just about anything you can fish with, and it holds up very well.

The big advantage the simplicity and speed. I still use some of the others, but overall, this is it!

  • @tarpnman thanks heaps mate, lately ive been losing a lot of big fish because my blood knots wernt holding, thanks to you i dont have that problem anymore!

  • i dont know why but this guy reminds me of ted nugent. oh yea good knot.

  • LOL,,true

  • The biggest fish I"ve caught on this know was a 24" Bighorn rainbow with 2# test.

Otherwise, all streamer smallmouth up to 21 inches, but I'm running #8 test on those, so it shouldn't break (Maxima Super Soft).

I use a loop knot for my poppers referred to elsewhere on my site.

  • 2lb test wooooow..thats crazy .u the man

  • I'll take that as a compliment since I'm a big Nuge guy ever since I saw him play at a college gig in - get this - 1973!

  • this is my new fav knot!!

  • You forgot to wipe the Nair hair remover off your upper lip !

  • looks like a difficult way to make a simple clinch knot

  • also are you related to the Master Floridian Electrician named Tom Henry? I could swear you two are cousins.

  • for future reference less talking more knot tying

anyway i'm gonna use this knot

    thank you crazy knot man

  • will this knot affect the swimming action of any precisely swimming lures ( rapala floating)

  • That is one SOLID Knot!

    Thanks! =)

    Strawz

  • SALAMAT PO (Thank you)

  • I used this knot last month for the first time. I fished Syon Park in London for about 6 hours changing my fly 3 times each time employing this knot. I caught 3 trout and a tiny perch and the knot didn't slip or let me down once. I'll be using this knot always from now on. It's super fast to tie and completely reliable.

  • Dude thats not nice of you!

  • ya hes really scary

  • this guy creeps me out.

  • gracias ! muy buen nudo y lo aprendí de inmediato =)

  • I've caught a fish that big, but it's cool to learn the knot

  • Thanks!! helped so much!!

  • anyone know what this knot is called?

  • thurles knot

  • thanks

  • LOL @ 1:30

sounds like hes parents dragged him through the water by his waist

  • yeah, that was a weird moment.

  • i love this knot

  • thanx dude

  • thanks for posting

  • how much line does it waste in the tail? the clinch knot is getting old having to change my leader so much.

  • I usually don't even clip that tag. Once you get good at it, you can tie it with about 1/4 inch of tag, which I won't clip on a larger gamefish type fly. Maybe I'd touch it up on a tiny trout fly, but this is one of the factors that makes it quick. I should have mentioned it in the video. Thanks.

  • to make this knot even stronger i go through the eye or fly or lure, swivel Twice..never fails big guy

  • a leader should last at least a full season. once it gets down to 7' or so, just blood knot some tippet on to extend it. some people even cut off the thinnest 2' of a new leader and just tie a couple feet of 4x or 5x tippet before they even use it.

  • hey guys what is the name of this knot ??

  • Check out the Davy knot. The Davy is a little faster and easier than this knot, and claims to have 100% knot strength. Davy Wotten is the originator of this knot.

This, however, is a great knot.

  • i fucking had a meltdown tempertantrum trying to tie this knot, im using 2lbs test i cant fucking see what im doing, i went crazy and broke shit, and got a hook in my finger, fuck! srry for cursing, but i got the hang of it now and the knot works great

  • that shit was so funny !i went crazy and broke shit. Your the man hahahahaha

  • what do u suggest is the best knot for spinner baits .

  • I don't tie on spinner baits directly since I change the lures quite often. You can use the knot to tie on the swivel or clip. If I was tying direct, I'd probably use a Clinch Knot.

  • what is the biggest fish u caught with this knot?

  • Can you use this knot for tying your line to things such as plugs, crankbaits, or others?

  • Yes, I usually use a metal clip (not a swivel) for my cranks and plugs and I use it to tie on terminal or junction hardware as such.

If I'm tying directly to a crank, plug, or anything, I will some time use a loop knot to allow the plug to wobble better, otherwise yes you can use this knot for anything.

  • good but btter if it was a real hook

  • I hope you know he used those items to give us a better image of how it is done. almost impossible to see how its done if he would have been using a hook

  • This is a great knot. i tie it a little differently. take a look and check out my hook threader video as well. cheers scott

  • right on

  • thanks for the kind words!

  • u can probably put saliva on there by talking >_>

  • Yes, ever since a recent dentistry adventure, I'm spitting quite a bit. Very thoughtful and insightful comment, indeed.

  • I just tried it, but replaced the slip knot with a scaffold knot... Seems like both would work equally well.

  • Can you send me a tutorial or graphic of the scaffold? thanks

  • this guy explains and shows knots good, but the strongest knot for tying line/leader to lures and hooks is the san diego jam knot, over 150% line strength, even stronger than a palomar knot, which i used to use, but sucks trying to put the loop of a palomar knot over a 4-6 inch snook lure

  • This sounds like a knot you'd tie in your microphone or guitar chord while jamming with your buddies in southern CA.

Seriously, can you send me a report or tutorial on the jam knot, sounds cool.

  • try the non slip mono loop knot.caught plenty of 100 lb tuna with it...what is the biggest fish u have caught with this jam knot?

  • tarpon 80-160 lbs, 5-8 ft sharks of different species, all from land

  • u paddle the bait out with a kayak?

  • i swim it out past the sandbar, or if the conditions are calm enough i'll walk out far and cast it out over the sandbar

  • Thnx for the knot i started using this knot u taught me so yea XD

  • Hope it helps you, it's a great help to me.

  • Cool knot. Field and Strem ran an article a couple of months ago about different types of knots and their strenghts.

  • This knot is very similar to the palomar knot. The palomar is essentially a knotless knot that is very strong and NEVER slips or fails. I use it whenever fly size and line diameter allow.

  • I've been fishing for 34 years and that's the best knot I've ever seen. It so simple it should be obvious. However, unless someone shows you how, you'll never know.

  • Now here's a guy that should be heard, he's obviously very knowledgeable.

Kidding again, thanks for the kind words, glad to see you like it.

  • Cool

  • What is the name of the knot? Thanks.

  • I call it the Swisher Knot, named after the guy that taught it to me from Hamilton, MT.

  • That's new to me. Thanks!

  • excellent

  • Nice knot, but HEY!..what's that geeetar stand doing back there? How about stringin' that baby with mono and playing us a tune once in a while?..or are you using the E,G or B strings for leaders?

  • Good eye. I play banjo and guitar, but don't let the banjo thing get around. It might destroy what little credibility I have left.

  • Thanks, great video, easy knot, will use tomorrow. Steelhead be afraid, very afraid. ( just not a frayed knot)

  • i fish spoonbill and and my treble hook keeps flying off if u could tell me how to keep it on i would really apreciate it.

p.s. i wouldnt mind u showing me in a video..

  • great vid... thanks!

  • thankszzzzzz

  • Absolutely worth a try. Might be easier than a Palomar (if that is possible).

  • thanks quality knot

  • thanks, i bet your from Florida.

  • Nearby, Minnesota.

  • My personal preference is a (SCAFFOLD) knot or for slage ( A DUBBLE FISHERMANS KNOT)... It is actsholy a climbing not used to connect a life line to a saddle or even tie two lines together... I put my life on this knot every time I climb (I am a tree trimmer) So I climb a lot of trees... I have found that this particular knot I am talking about seems to work just as well for fishing as it dose for putting a life on a line.

  • Can you send me info on the Scaffold Knot?

  • looks nice... but my favorite knot is stil the Rapala knot:)

  • It may be fast but I bet you the palomar is much stronger and not that hard to tie.

  • This is great, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't tie the slip knot around the fly from the very begining.

  • I like the palomor personaly but this not is pretty nice hooked up on a nice 3 lber it held up nice

  • Dude that's awesome! I've never seen this knot before. It's easy, quick and strong. Thanks for sharing!

  • cool, thanks mate

  • i usally put my faith in a polamar or improved clintch knot for fishing...but after seeing this i will have to test ur knot, i wounder how it will work on braided lines

  • So helpful Thank you

  • Botox, XD

  • Have you ever grown a mustash?

  • the man is showing you how to tie a knot stop your stupid comments idiot

  • Hey its a question. And the knot rocks btw.

  • Thank You very helpful.

  • that knot will help me not only with fishing but in general, that was a great idea thanks very much from Pete in the UK

  • cool. I am deffinately going to use that knot.

  • Great knot! easy. I can't wait to use it

  • That is inded a fine knot. Doug Swisher is often associated with it. With a bit of practice you can tye it with your eyes closed, making it ideal for low light conditions. Thanks for the great demo!
