Sure, the fist two Max Payne games seem to be alot darker than the new Max Payne 3, we haven't seen much from it yet... However, do consider it has that dark setting also because of the graphic limitations, it's the same with the likes of Diablo, people complain Diablo 3 have to much colour, but alot have to do that gaming tech evolve, Max Payne 3 would never have been able to capture the same feeling even if it tried, so taking a bit different direction was IMO a smart choice.

Most realistic game of 2001, also best graphics of 2001 and best story of 2001.

It's not my favorite game of 2001, but it's a very good in so many aspects.

For quick info, together with Max Payne, 2001 had great shooter games like Serious Sam, Aliens VS Predator 2, Clive Barker's Undying, Return To Castle Wolfenstein, Operation Flashpoint.. That year was definitely best year for shooter games..

Uber awesome game.....Lots of shootin'...everyone is killing and maiming and giving each other the finger....Bad ass atmosphere and lots cool MATRIX-like bullet time effects.. The game has a distinct look which I respect(hot summer) but I dont see how nyc couldnt have been at the heart of that. First was freezing snow, second was pouring rain it only make sense that the third would be in nyc during the summer.
