  • That's a waste of train car space. I feel like the MTA should allow us train fanatics to ride it once in a while. It's like they enjoy taunting us.

  • It was an honor to ride that type of train when I was in Junior High.

  • the platform for the 2 and 5 trains is soooo dirty...

  • Another great shot from the "guy who catches all the rare stuff". =P

  • man i wish i cudda ride in wanna these

  • @4P3609

Actually they sound a lot like the TTC T1's.

  • Those R110A's are AWESOME!! I wish they were in service. Way cooler than the R142.

  • when was this

  • @MrSubwayTrainMan June 16, 2009

  • hey those are cool...

  • they might preserve em' for NYCTA in the future. You know, like an "Innovation of technology thing." I believe 7 of the R110B's still exist. 3 of them can't run from what I know. x_x

  • I remember running this train in tests. It was great, but WAY too fast for the subways. I got the train up to 80 mph. A damned shame what happened to them.

  • R110A was a demostration train that built in 1992 to test out the new technology

  • it only ran the 2 line

  • They could have used it.

  • I think I remember it ran on the (2) line.

  • It did and then it ran on deh 2 then on deh 6 in a short period of time. Remember the R110A is a prototype to R142

  • Those look cooler than the 142.

  • @simplyo26 way cooler

  • Lucky you!!!!

  • i wish i could take one so badly!

  • this train looks better then the R142 no offence to everyone who likes the R142 but that design is better looking on that last car

  • R110A came out in the early 1990s and the design served as its predecessors of the R142s. Unfortunately, it was never put into service and only ten cars (car #8001-8010) were built.

  • were these scraped i never saw a pic of it being scraped or something

  • The R110B was. 3 were cannibalized for parts for the remaining 9 cars.

  • Uh, I mean 6.

  • They were retired because they had braking problems and some fire damage. Same thing with the R110B.

  • thats a shame

  • Why wasnt the work train attached to an R32 when it was going down this station?

  • This is a IRT station not a BMT/IND station

  • @NYCREDBIRD i still dont get what IRT station and BMT/IND are explain plz

  • @gtasandman

    IRT- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 9

    IND- A C E G H K S(rockaway)

    BMT- B D F G J L M N Q R S(42nd & prospect) V W Z

    I might be mistaken.

  • These are the cars that were later on fixed to become today's R142's. They look like R62's, and R142's combined.

  • lol Does anyone know where I can find a video or sound clip of the R110A or R110B is service by themselves?

  • Those trains look brand spankin' new! I'd hate to see them go to waste.

  • there were prototypes

  • man your lucky to see those

  • whoa, those are wide doors
