Even though it's a bit of a late reply, great video mate.
I thought it was a good win for Vera, even though he still lacked that killer instinct that he showed earlier in his career, hopefully the UFC will give him a top 10 LHW in his next fight and we can see where he's really at.
I think if CroCop does beat JDS which i predict he will, hopefully the UFC will put up Noguiera vs CroCop 2. That would be a dream come true. I dont think Noguiera will be able to submit cro cop now but his boxing got wayyyyy better so he will be a problem in the stand up for CroCop. I see CroCop winning. I do think CroCop will do good against Lesnar, probably will land good leg kicks and his striking is much better than Lesnars, but will cro cop ever win the UFC title? Hopefully.
Great review as usual Chase. I think the best way to see who's is going to be next in line for a title shot against Anderson is to set a Marquardt/Henderson match for the #1 spot, but something tells me it's going to be Hendo the one getting it in the end. As for Nogueira, if he doesn't get the winner of Lesnar/Carwin, I wouldn't mind to see a rematch against Mir before that.
The only thing I disagree is that if Junior dos Santos beats Cro Cop they'll not put him against Nogueira. D. Santos comes from the same camp, Nogueira is his BJJ instructor, they have the same boxing coach Dorea and the same Muay Thai coach Luis Alves.
great vid dude, i think that couture-nog deffinately can be the fight of the year. And i believe Hendo-Marquardt for the chance to fight Silva would be a great fight.
Man, if Randy would have came back and won the fight . That would have to be probably the best fight I have ever seen. I think Santos will knockout Cro Cop with strikes and we'll see a Cro Cop vs Couture fight. If Randy lose's that one , which i dont think he will, but if he does. Then i believe that he might retire even though having just signed a new contract.
Randy was awesome in that fight, but Nog was just a bit better... They are both insanely good fighters and both have hearts of gold. Randy surviving those submission attempts and the knockdown in the 3rd round just shows you how powerful of a fighter he is.
I love Cro Cop and all ut i'll rather see him avenge maybe a loss to Kongo or especially GOnzaga. Both which I think he can beat if he's all there. I honestly think he can knock both guys out in less than a round. But I dont think he deserves a contenders fight even if he beats DSantos.
What I would LOVE is for Cro Cop to get a winning streak going about B+ and A- opposition before they put him in there with A+ competition. He looked horrible versus Werdum.
i want to see hendo vs marq to get a number 1 contender so we dont have to waist andersons last 4 fights on people we have already seen him beat. have him face the winner of that fight in between beating people in superfights.
good job. you were pretty much right on the money with your assessments of the fighters last night. i was surprised at how good nog looked against randy. and yeah jardine has major problems with aggressive strikers that push forward on him.
And lets be honest, if Maia had won the same thing would have happened to him against Silva, he would have got KO'd. He dosnt' have the stand up to get in there and take down some of the better guys at 185 (Silva, Marquardt, Henderson, ect).
Nog Couture, I loved it. Randy lost but has nothing to be ashamed of, he did great.
He was not afraid of being taken down, but he should have been aware since the very begining that Nate (which is STRONGER) could knock him out with a single good punch. Yes, exchange punches would have been better. Demian could not have crippled Nate with a low kick and every one ot those leave a window for a counter. I love Maia, but don't think was the smartest thing to do...
Dude, listen carefully. He should take him down - this we all know.
But you start standing up, as you have realized. While you are waiting for the takedown, it is safer to keep the distance and avoid power punches using your jab and moving instead of throwing low kicks! How many times you have seen power over right hands after someone throw a low kick? So, unless you have one hell of a kick (which is not the case), he would be better off not kicking and using the jab. Thats my opinion.
lol... Yeah, low kicks are a really in close and tight strategy.
Nobody in history has ever used those to keep the distance in a fight.
Countering a jab is just as easy as countering a low kick, sir. Especially when you don't know how to throw one. What limp is longer, your leg or your arm? Leg right? Well keeping him almost at legs length is farther away than keeping him at a jab length, per your strategy.
He should have closed the distance and clinched, but thats just me.
Marquardt Maia : although the quick knockout does say something about Maia's standup, I was disappointed that I didn't get to see a battle in this one. I'd rather see Marquardt Henderson than Silva against either of them.
Couture Nog : amazing fight, although Couture is showing the effects of time. This fight more than saved the card for me. A classic!
Silva Jardine : not sure this one showed us anything new, bit of a dud.
I think we're gonna see Cro Cop vs Coutoure for sure. Dosen't matter how Cro Cop's fight's gonna end. Win lose i think Randy vs Cro Cop is next. With Nog , it's a pretty big question mark. He's not going to be fighting Dos Santos cuz , he's his mentor , they train together etc. Nog might fight either Velasquez or Gonzaga.
Lesnar's striking is still pretty rudimentary and Nog would have an advantage there, I think. Nog is very durable and I don't think Lesnar has a good chin. The biggest problem for anyone facing Lesnar will be the size/strength advantage. Lesnar has pushed the heavyweight division to the point that all the other divisions are at--if you are not cutting weight to make your division, you are putting yourself at a huge disadvantage.
Couture got dominated bad, but it was a weird fight. I wasn't expecting Couture to lose the standup, and I wasn't expecting Nogueira to fail at submissions.
nogueira look really good....that reversal that put him on full mount was really impressive....i wonder if he will get a shot..or maybe get velasquez or cro-cop if he wins...
Cain is fighting Rothwell, and the winner of Cro Cop Dos Santos will either fight Nog, or Cain/Rothwell more than likely. Yes alot is going on, and its good to see some more depth in the HW division in the UFC.
haha maia got christened

AYAOTD22 2 years ago
Pretty Impressive. He's a guy I had heard about out of ATT, with some solid wrestling and striking. He is definitely a guy to look out for.
hattrickhockey17 2 years ago
you think he can be a threat to lesnar in the future
AYAOTD22 2 years ago
No way does Big Nog fight Dos Santos. They're teammates, both Ed Soares guys.
Nog should get the winner of Lesnar/Carwin, given that we can now see his awful showing against Mir was due to being wiped out from staph.
ignostic1 2 years ago
Agreed. When I said that, I meant if Cro Cop wins, Dos Santos trains with Nog at Blackhouse, they would never fight.

At 2:21, what do you mean by "pocket"?
Maloperverso 2 years ago
The middle of the octagon, he stayed in the middle
I think, im pretty sure thats what it is.
metaldudebuff92 2 years ago
Yes. It refers to the area in which fighters exchange when striking. The term comes from boxing though.
hattrickhockey17 2 years ago
I didn't really explain it best in the above response, this one is better.
**It refers to the area/space between two fighters where the exchange combination's when striking.**
hattrickhockey17 2 years ago
**...where they exchange...**

Can someone explain why the heck Maia was throwing LOW KICKS at
Marquadt???
panoca 2 years ago
when you aren't afraid of getting taken down, you can do pretty much anything you want.
You propose he just stood there and exchanged punches?

So one punch can take maia out, so he should exchange punches with him?

I've heard Carwin is getting the next shot, at UFC 106 I think.
Then Cro cop and Dos Santos are fighting, the winner of that fight is then thrown into the mix.
and Valasquez is fighting somebody at UFC 104, and if he wins I think he should fight Nog.
yeah, lots going on in the Heavyweight division
